A grotesque mask dangles from this silver key ring, suspended by a short piece of sturdy cable chain. The mask and chain are likely Mexican, evoking a grimacing face with bared teeth and hanging tongue similar to various masks of the ancient Americas. It is constructed of several elements, such as a headpiece, tongue and overhanging lip, soldered onto the the flat face; eyes and nose are incised. A Kokopelli fertility god sterling silver southwest native pin or brooch from the 1960s or 1970s. Kokopelli is the Southwest native American deity of fertility and is depicted as a hump-backed flute player. This 2-3/8 x 1-5/8" brooch has a safety clasp and it is stamped STERLING J B (probably for the Navajo artist Jerome Begay). It weighs 11.2 grams and it is in excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs...

Outstanding bracelet by Tortolani. Huge and heavy with three dimensional carving of zodiac signs. Combination of silver and pewter colored metal Truly a collectors piece, rare and beautiful. 2" high in front, 1" in back. 2 1/4" by 2" inside dimensions, 5/8" at deepest.

These sterling silver minimalist earrings are formed as abstract triangles, each with an undecorated surface. They have a nice patina from age, and look to have been hardly worn; dating is the 1960s. They have working clip backs, and the mark of Brdr. Bjørklund, Copenhagen, on the back. They measure 1 1/4 at the longest point, and a little over 3/4 inch at their widest point. Weight:10.9 grams total

These handsome gold tone square toggle back cufflinks add a dash to any french cuff, having a centered stylized diagonal, one half engraved, unmarked, circa 1960. Measures 5/8 in., minor wear.

A modernist sterling silver cuff bracelet with a sterling wire overlay. Marked Sterling and 'the silversmith', which has been associated with mid century jeweler Ella Cone, who had The Silversmiths' shop in Boston. Measures approximately 5 3/4" around with an opening of 1 1/4". Measures about 1 7/8" at the widest. Has some tarnish and surface scratches. Nice contrast between the oxidized and polished silver. Fine example of Mid Century Modernist studio jewelry. Looks great on!

A vintage modernist brooch with a thick etched sterling rhombus over another open layer by Anna Greta Eker for Norway Designs Studio Plus. Haven't found another example of this brooch.

Measures 2 3/4" long and 2" high. Has a rollover clasp that closes securely. Marked with the stylized ND for Norway Designs Plus Studio, 925S, and A G EKER in script.

Has a little tarnish and some scratches. Some may be able to be buffed out but not where the etching is...

Drawing inspiration from Mexico’s Spanish Colonial past, this sterling silver necklace and earrings set by Margot de Taxco combines dark oxidation with overlay and deep hand-chasing to achieve an elaborate and rich Old World visual effect. I find the central station to resemble a carnival mask - I know, too Venetian but then, carnivals were celebrated in Spain as well though not as elegantly or extravagantly...

One of the best Sigi Pineda's for a collection is this outstanding bracelet of silver brushed "pearls" and a concave black niello background that goes half the way around. Sigi's silver brushed pearl look was achieved by making a cutting of a tight spiral onto the bead balls. It is evident in the close up photography. From a look to your arm when worn it gives a satin finish effect. The quality of the thickness of the silver and bead work shows off the heft of 80 grams...

Post modern handmade sterling and cultured pearl ring by Novak, c.1972. Part of a large and wonderful 32-piece collection(see several other pieces on this website) by this artist whose original concepts set his work apart from others. The ring is signed "NOVAK 925 N w/ARROW(hallmark)" is in excellent condition. The design shows an irregularly-shaped heart design(5/8" across by almost 1/2" high) with a 5 3/4mm. cultured pearl set at center...

Large, hand made sterling, azurite, turquoises modernist necklace, c.1960's. Center triangular pendant measures 3" and has 4 hanging moveable extensions each measuring 2 3/4" below the pendant. The center AZURITE is a gorgeous stone of turquoise-colored blues(not the grey as photographed)and rust swirls around. Of good weight, it has a 21" hand made chain. A vintage pair of sterling silver screw back earrings by Margot de Taxco, (Margot Van Voorhies Carr), number 5376, with blue confetti enamel. Opposites so frame the face when worn.

Measure 7/8" high and 3/4" across. Marked Made in Mexico Sterling, Margot de Taxco and 5376. Also marked with Eagle #16.

Screw backs hold securely. Very nice condition with some tarnish. Hard to find design.

Molten caramel golds and shimmering coffee browns are reflected in warmly mellowed silver in this modernist Mexican pendant necklace with neck ring.
