This pretty lavaliere is made of 10 k gold with an especially rich color. The oval gem is actually an amethyst look-alike--a garnet/glass doublet*and the dropper is a fresh water pearl. This is a wonderful Alice Caviness pin / brooch. It is made of gold wash over sterling (vermeil) and enamel. The filigree shell has greenish-blue accents. The shell continues outward with orange enamel. The eyes are red (dark orange). It measures 1 1/2" x 1" 1/2". The underside of the turtle is marked ALICE CAVINESS STERLING GERMANY.
