An ode to Mexico’s ancient crafts this “tribal” necklace wrought in sterling silver with bone links and agate beads bears the signature of Reveriano (Reveri) Castillo. Though the Castillos did, on occasion, incorporate Aztec and Maya artifacts and beads in their jewelry, I believe that here the materials used are contemporary to the designer but brought together is such a way as to evoke ancient types of personal adornment...

I have had this mod Taxco bracelet a few times over the years - also in ring, earrings and brooch form. And I never tire of it! The example at hand is signed by maestro Moreno and it has the beguiling sculpturality that makes the design memorable. Two perfectly crafted silver spheres sitting on stylized leaves - that is all yet it is so much more. Gutsy, slick and eye-catching at the same time - definitely a bracelet for the daring among us...

Hallmarks date this Hubert Harmon masterpiece 1944-1948. This bracelet is a large heavy piece. Harmon produced silver in Mexico for only a short period of time. This bracelet, in particular, is a design which I've never seen before. It's hinged so that you can open just enough to fit over the wrist. It can be worn either slightly open, or with the front "fingers" intertwined and closed. The weight is substantial at 114.1 grams. Signed and hallmarked "Hubert Harmon Sterling Made in Mexico"...
The dove motif is based on Georg Jensen's bracelet. It has been copied by several American makers in the 1930's. This is one of those. This bracelet is 7 1/4" long by 3/4" wide.

With a hallmark of STERLING MEXICO and no dents or damage anywhere we have a very smart presence to enjoy. The weight is 52 grams which is heavy considering the 7 inches of chain. A versatile piece just, LOOK AT THAT NECKLACE!
