An organic mid century modern brooch by the American studio jeweler, Harry Osaki (1904-1985), who worked in Pasadena, California. Reminds us of a stylized fish.

This brooch, executed in sterling silver with an oval turquoise colored stone, measures 2 7/8" long and 1 1/2" at the widest.

Marked Osaki, Hand-Wrought and Sterling on the back.

An unusual hand wrought brooch in the shape of a surrealist eye in thick hammered sterling silver with a brown gemstone bead for the iris. Has 2 layers of sterling, one more hammered then the other for an interesting contrast. The dangling brown bead moves and reflects on the sterling background.

Stunning in its towering smokey brilliance, this minimalist solitaire by Carmen Beckmann is a modernist Mexican beauty! Based in San Miguel de Allende Beckmann is reported to have started her activity a little later than the big Mexico City and Taxco workshops with most of her pieces dating in the 1950s and 1960s. Circa early 1940's, this is a superb slinky chain bracelet from William Spratling. It's a heavy handwrought piece, with a closed, wearable length of 7 1/2" and a width of 7/8". Very rare brass and enamel pin signed "MACCHIARINI", c.1940's. Peter Macchiarini(deceased) was a very famous San Francisco modernist jewelry designer and his works are extremely desirable. The provenance of this piece has been identified by his son, Dan Macchiarini. He states that it was a private commission by someone wanting a clown face. This turned out to be a joint venture between Peter and his then student, Virginia De Haas, whom he later married...

An ode to Mexico’s ancient crafts this “tribal” necklace wrought in sterling silver with bone links and agate beads bears the signature of Reveriano (Reveri) Castillo. Though the Castillos did, on occasion, incorporate Aztec and Maya artifacts and beads in their jewelry, I believe that here the materials used are contemporary to the designer but brought together is such a way as to evoke ancient types of personal adornment...

This outstanding bracelet, by renowned South American jeweler Antonio Belgiorno, is composed of slightly concave disks with delicately textured top surfaces. It has a substantial look and exhibits classic mid-century design. One side of the tongue bears the mark A Belgiorno, Buenos Aires, and an obscured rectangular mark that could indicate Industria Argentina; the other side indicates T27 and 900 for silver content in a diamond reserve...

Alberto Contreras Sr. was trained by master silversmith Frank Patania Sr. in the late 1940's and employed at the Patania Thuderbird Shop in Santa Fe. Their work was heavily influenced by the Native American jewelers that worked with them. These beautiful clip back sterling and turquoise earrings feature a striking Modernist design with great stones. They measure 1"by1" and weigh 16 grams total. They are in fine original condition and signed as shown. Love the look !
