Silver gilt filigree and enamel brooch by Topazio, depicting a lovely Portuguese lady with a basket of grapes. Figures in elegantly traditional dress are found in many of Topazio’s pieces from the 1920’s and 30’s. The chains fixed to the pin makes the brooch move, and so draws attention to its wearer. Brooch in the style of Pal Kepenyes, bronze and black enamel. Kepenyes, a sculptor of Hungarian origin, moved to Mexico in the 1960’s. His jewelry is in the rough or “brutalist” style of the time. Unreadable signature near the pin needle. Width "1 ¾ / 4.6 cm. Condition: fine.

This cool 1-7/8 x 1-3/8" pin features marquise and cabochon white moonstone glass stones with nice reflective play as well as two open-back blue glass stones and closed-back blue rhinestones. Also has the Eagle #8 mark. In very good condition, some minor surface scratches. Has some minor indentations along the edges at back. Weighs 77 grams. Feels great on.
