Diana Leaving the Bath (Diane Sortant du Bain), after Francois Boucher (French, 1703-1770). Oil on canvas. 2nd half 19th century. Offered in an antique tin over wood frame. This is an unsigned 19th century copy of the Francois Boucher original that was acquired by The Louvre, in Paris, in 1852. This copy was probably created within twenty-five years after Boucher painted his original.

Oscar Kokoschka, 1886-1980, Oil on canvas signed lower right O K. The painting is in good condition and is 20 1/8"h by 14 3/8"w in a 4.25" period frame with outer dimensions of 27 1/8"h by 21.1/8"w. It is from a private midwestern collection. He was the son of a fairly poor Czech goldsmith, was born in Pochlam, Austria and raised in Vienna, the great hothouse of modernism in economic, social and ethnic areas. By the time he was twenty-two he was labeled a "public terror"...

A lovely good-sized, (30 1/2" by 34 1/2", and 34 1/2" by 38" framed) impressionist painting of a Swiss garden in Rovio near Lugano in the southern part of Switzerland hard on the Italian border, between famous Lakes Como and Maggiore, titled on reverse "Garten in Rovio", and dated there 1928, by well-listed Spanish artist JOSE SANZ Y ARIZMENDI (1885-1929). This is an impressive work by a talented artist. His biography is elusive. He was from Spain but spent a lot of time in Switzerland...

We believe the work to be of the British school painted c. 1850 or earlier as suggested by the early Victorian shape of the seat rail...

This is an eye-catching painting of good size, by an artist demonstrating tremendous skill in the handling of light. The alpenglow on the distant peaks at sunset (dawn?), the shadowed areas, the areas in bright sun.....all handled with great control...

A really nicely painted oil on canvas landscape of a whitewashed, red-roofed farmhouse, a lane leading up to it, a dog, several tiny figures and a large feathery tree completing the scene, 13" by 16 3/4" (18 1/2" by 22 1/4" as framed), signed at lower right "G Zannoni" and dated below that with what appears as an 1860's date (partly under the frame, hard to see). The work may look slightly primitive close up but when viewed from normal viewing distance it all comes together as intended...
