This is a powerful little painting of The Netherlands, 6 1/8" by 8 3/4", painted on a wood panel, and a narrow simple frame, signed at lower left in the paint by well listed German artist ADOLF STADEMANN (1824-1895). PAIR of circa 1880 oil landscapes on panel, each 10 1/4" by 18 3/4" (15 3/4" by 24 1/2" in modern frames). The images of lakeside castles are classic 19th century European art. Small sail boats, feathery trees and ancient stone bridges complete the scenes. Each is signed with monogram like "A M" or "S M". I considered these might be by the famed German painter Adolph Menzel but think that unlikely...

Oil on canvas, relined, measuring 17" by 21" (24" by 28" as framed) signed at upper left in red by listed Italian painter CLAUDIO RINALDI (and below which he wrote "Firenze"---where he was active between the 1860's and 1890's). There doesn't seem to be a lot of information available on the artist, but the subject matter and the handling of the faces are consistent with a number of other works by his hand that have appeared on the market in Europe and America...

Oil on canvas laid on a card, unstretched, signed at lower right corner "C Vianello". The subject is an older lady seated in a darkened interior, obviously deep in thought. The work measures 13" by 10 1/4". It is sorely in need of some restoration, as it was laid long ago on a card which is now bent and cracked. The surface though stable is dry, and there is soiling and no varnish present...

Truly old nineteenth century oil painting, 29" by 24 3/4" (32" by 27 3/4" framed), apparently unsigned, the subject probably Mary Magdalene, an extensive landscape visible at distant right. The painting's precise age is difficult to pinpoint, but mid 19th century would be close to the mark. No doubt it is a copy after an original Italian master work of the 16th century...
