A modern (circa 1950's), unframed, oil on canvas painting of two brutish, almost centaur-like men very apparently engaging in some sort of heavy conflict and struggle, signed lower left Ignon, measuring 27" by 33". The artist is GUI IGNON (1897-1963), not widely known today but a man who led a very interesting life and brushed elbows with the famous and intellectuals. Ignon was born in Caen, in Normandy, France...

A contemporary painting of roses, painted in a highly impressionistic manner, with palette knife applying generous amounts of paint, giving the painted areas a three dimensional look, signed illegibly at lower right. The piece measures 10" by 8" (19" by 16 1/2" in attractive, complementary silvery framing). Both painting and frame are in excellent condition.

This is a marriage of a circa 1880 gold American Victorian frame with distinctive and unusual diamond patterns in the gilt, the frame rabbet 14" by 18", the framed item total 19 1/2" by 23", a mid 20th century still life signed "Olenick" set into it. It makes for an interesting combination but doesn't have to necessarily stay that way. The antique frame itself is very attractive and could potentially house any number of 19th century paintings...

I believe the type of painting might well be called "hard edge", there being sharp delineations between strips of color. This is a large and decorative work that will enhance any modern or mid century interior. The painting needs a simple cleaning, as over the years it has acquired some superficial brownish drips and soiling...

This is a powerful study of a man, in pencil, chalk, and gouache, signed at lower right by artist ROBERT SPRINGFELS (1911-1984). The drawing is on paper laid on Masonite. Measurements are 28 5/8" by 22 3/4" and a 1 1/4" wood frame with considerable character and patina. There is a printed out note on the reverse which states that the artist exhibited at the Butler Art Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio in 1965. A colorful original work, NOT A PRINT, the subject four palms at the beach, signed at lower left margin in pencil by noted California contemporary artist SALLY HUSS (1940-). The work, art itself 15" by 24" and 23" by 32 1/2" as framed, is typical of the artist's output----always colorful in the extreme, and whimsical, the subjects landscape, florals, or fantasy. Her designs are often available as prints or on merchandise, but original works are more scarce. Condition is excellent.

A highly decorative, elegant painting of Siamese cats, 22" by 24" (32" by 34" in gold contemporary framing), signed at top edge by the noted American artist KENNETH STEVEN MACINTIRE (1891-1979). Judging from the materials used, the painting was likely painted at some time from the late 1940's through about 1960, I believe. The colors used----white, gold yellows, and black----make for a highly decorative composition that reminds of the Art Deco period...

The presence of the iconic saguaro cactus places the scene as east of the Colorado River, therefore in Arizona. Found in Maine, is this oil on canvas painting, 24" by 20 1/2" in its silver metal frame, signed at extreme lower right "Judith Nelson Harper" and titled on the reverse "Red, White and Blue". It is a striking work, though I see minimal information on the artist---I believe just one minor bit of information shows up on a net search. Regardless, this will please anyone looking to brighten up a modern interior with original art from the 1970's. The condition is somewhat less than optimal...........
