Nutting was born in Nevada. He became known in California for landscape and portrait works. He and his wife spent time painting in Cambria on the scenic Central Coast in 1939 and again from 1953-1955. Apparently he also spent time in Texas...

A PAIR of unframed oil on canvas works, one a scene of coastal cliffs and waves, 12" by 12", the other featuring a small lake or pond, 11" by 14" (both unframed). They are each signed by the artist, one M. Mahmoudi. I have not located information on the obviously talented artist, who is likely Californian; found in Los Angeles. Condition is excellent. What appear as white speckles in some images are reflections off the varnish and canvas weave.

A fine example of the renowned still life paintings produced by French artist ROBERT CHAILLOUX (1913-2006), measuring 13" by 16" (20" by 23" in gold frame). An oil on rough side of the Masonite painting of a windmill in a landscape with a foreground cow, painted in a skilled impressionist hand, and signed by the artist, one PENNY SMITH, at lower left. The work was probably painted in the 1950's, judging from the signature and style/materials. I do not see a listing for a Penny Smith, but she was trained. Measurements are 14" by 12" and the work is unframed...

Born in Marseille in 1879, Camoin studied firstly in his home city before moving to Paris in the 1890s to study under the influential and controversial Symbolist painter Gustave Moreau at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts...
A circa mid 1960's oil on canvas painting of a dark-haired young woman, 10 1/2" by 8 3/4" (18" by 16" in a gold frame that appears to me to be hand carved and leafed). The artist signed at upper left with what looks like "Roth". There is a Montmartre kitsch look but I cannot be sure of a Paris origin...
A good-sized watercolor (30 1/2" by 22 1/2", and 37 1/2" by 29 1/2" in present framing without glass), the subject New Mexico adobes in a late autumn landscape, the trees in flaming yellows, backed by surrounding mountains. Vintage oil on canvas impressionist landscape with rounded low mountains, a country road passing red barns, 25" by 30" (29 1/2" by 34 1/2" framed), signed at lower right corner with what appears as "D Tutis" or "D Totis" or similar. Although the work resembles that of Vermont painter Earl A. Titus (1895-1962), the signature does not correspond with how he signed. So we have a mystery work here...
An original American impressionist landscape of a rural home on a river by Edward Redfield...
A decidedly modern watercolor painting of five liquor bottles, painted in mid century colors, 11" by 15" inside the mat, 23" by 30" in interesting, vintage rubbed reddish gray wood framing, signed at lower right by artist "Linahan". I have been unable to link this to a known artist. The black outlining style of the imagery and, especially the colors chosen by the artist suggest a late 1950's or early 1960's date. Mat could use a refresher, but the art itself and the frame are in excellent co...
