An example of the 1934/35 lithograph "Ruf Des Todes", from the "Death Cycle" series of lithographs by famous German artist KATHE KOLLWITZ (1867-1945). The sheet which measures 19" by 16" was long ago laid down to a board. Evident past attempts to remove an over mat has resulted in skinning of the paper in the lower portion, and residue from the over mat remains at top. There is a line from the old mat all around, with the paper within that line lightly browned...
Herring’s Fox Hunting Scenes Lithograph 28x39” In color with a beautiful contemporary new silver frame. A hand colored lithograph. JOHN FREDERICK HERRING SR (1795-1865), AFTER, HERRING’S FOX HUNTING SCENES: THE MEET
Oil on canvas laid on board, 21" by 34" (26" by 39" as framed), unsigned, circa 1880 I would guess, the painting consisting of a classic Hudson River view with steep hills bordering a river, a boat completing the scenery. There is a very nice luminosity to this particular example, a very nice handling of the light in the leaves of the trees. The painting has an approximately 5" long horizontal old cut in lower portion as shown, not unusual for a work of this age...
Superb miniature portrait painting, depicting mother and child, signed and dated by the artist on reverse. Measurements: 3 1/4" x 2 1/2" in great

A large, impressive watercolor of the American Southwest, featuring a temporary water course in the otherwise arid classic landscape (as one would see a flash flood after a sudden summer monsoon cloudburst) with reddish butte at center. The work is signed at lower right "R. Rucker" and dated there 1997. Measurements are 20 1/2" by 27 3/4" (31 1/2" by 38" in white laminate style frame). On reverse slip of paper, perhaps by the artist, is written "A River Runs Through It" (!!!)...
A French portrait miniature of a woman done in watercolor on natural material. The sitter, clearly a woman of means,is dressed in au courant fashion in an elaborate white lace hat, a blue ribbon at her throat, and a white lace fichu over her blackish green dress.
On the backing of the painting is written in ink (at the time the painting was done) in French, the name of the sitter "Antoinette Francoise Garison," some other information, and that she was born on September 20, 1773 (see photo #4)...
A really well executed oil on canvas painting of a hammock of dry land in the Everglades of southern Florida, a summer cumulus cloud at right about to become a thunderhead, 18" by 24" (22" by 28" framed), circa late 1960's or early 1970's, signed at lower right by listed artist EDWARD ARTHUR EVANS (1895-). Hey! Makes me chuckle. That drawing was done when I was a young artist in NYC at Gem Studio.
A circa 1900 painting of two ladies who have apparently come to see the local priest in a courtyard, they pleading their case vigorously. The priest is accompanied by a sleeping cat. The table top with its interesting details is beautifully painted. The work, on canvas (relined), is signed at lower right "A. CALCAGNA"...
