The work is tastefully framed with mat and is wall-ready. DeRome was born on California's Central Coast. He studied art at the Mark Hopkins Institute in San Francisco with Arthur Mathews, and Lorenzo Latimer, and took on commercial work (advertising and political cartoons)...

Vintage circa 1880's oil on canvas, 20" by 14" and 1" wide old dark oak simple frame, likely the original, signed at lower right side with the typical conjoined "MStraus" signature of well listed Northern California artist MEYER STRAUS (1831-1905). Straus was born in southern Germany, and was in the US by 1848. He traveled the southern states, including New Orleans and Mobile areas, as well as Ohio and Illinois...

A PAIR of early portraits in pastel on paper, of a middle-aged man and woman (about 45 or 50 years of age), the male portrait signed along the lower right edge "E. Yohn 1841". The works measure 20 3/4" by 17 3/4" as framed. Considering the advanced age, condition of these fragile works is excellent. There is a small edge tear at extreme upper edge of the female portrait...

Pastel on paper laid on thick paperboard, 22" by 18", unframed, signed at lower left and dated 1921 by the artist, DAVID COMBA ADAMSON (1859-1926). In this drawing the artist shows his skill with the pastel medium. This is a sensitive portrait of an attractive young lady against an interesting striped pattern background, a red rose before her. There is no indication as to who she might have been (no writing/labels on reverse)...

Pastel on paper laid on board, the subject fruits and a porcelain cup on a tabletop, a vase with at top center, 20" by 15 1/2" (27" by 23" as framed), signed at lower right "Olds" (MARION VALE OLDS 1901-1993). The work is a fine example by this talented woman artist, the cramped artistic space and carefully thought-out arrangement of the objects in that space indicative of an artist of great talent who is taking from Cezanne as well as the WPA (I would guess the age as circa 1930's or 1940's)...

This is an exceptionally fresh example of the 1969 print "Summer", approximately 18" by 24" (25" by 32" framed) by the famous modern artist ALEXANDER CALDER (1898-1969). The print is protected behind Plexiglas, in a black shiny laminated frame. On the reverse is a certificate of authenticity from the Collectors Guild of New York...

Joseph Pennell 1857-1926 American This is a fairly scarce etching by American artist Joseph Pennell. The title is: Chelsea, No. II, it was created and printed in 1886, in an edition of only 20. Hand signed in pencil by the artist. The image measures 6 1/2X9 1/2 inches. This imag appears in the Wuerth catalog as image number 114. Printed on a medium weight wove type sheet. Chelsea Bridge is a bridge over the River Thames in west London.
