The painting is signed at lower right "L. Johnson". I do not seem to be able to connect this to any listed artist so am offering it as a decorative work. It was found in San Diego, and the poinsettia suggests a California origin...

The painting is signed at lower left apparently "DAILEY" and is dated there "42". Also on the stretcher, faintly in white chalk, are the words " Still Dailey" (partly unreadable)...

I do not see a lot of biographical information on the artist, but he did apparently work in a modernistic style, as Paul Klee or Lionel Feininger inspired semi-abstract or abstract works have appeared at auction in Germany...

A striking mid century aquatint etching in colors by the noted European artist and print maker JOHNNY FRIEDLAENDER (1912-1992). The unframed print, 8 1/2" by 5 1/2" inside the present mat opening (sheet 13 1/2" by 9 1/2") is signed at lower right margin with the artist's distinctive signature and numbered 41/55 at lower left. Friedlaender was a pioneer in the aquatint process, having taught such artists as Rodo Boulanger...

Etching on paper, 5 1/2" by 3" inside the innermost mat, (12" by 9" in green and gold mats, as ready for framing--presently unframed), the title of the print "La Rue du Change, Tours", pencil signed at lower right margin by the artist and dated there 1924. Tours is an historical old city of about 135,000 south and west of Paris, considered a gateway to the Loire Valley chateau region. This is a fine impression of the particular print, of which 156 were made...

A tempera or gouache painting titled "Good Times, Hard Times", 1985, by noted Southern California artist BARBARA LEE DOUGHERTY (1949-2015), the subject given as a scene on a back road between Santa Paula and Ojai in Ventura County. Dougherty was an active exhibitor at art shows in California through the 1980's and 1990's. Evidently later she spent time in Maryland. See information online about the talented artist...

Oil on panel, 9 1/4" by 12 1/2" (14 1/4" by 17 1/4" as framed), signed at lower left in red "Karla Mirabal", and inscribed on label on reverse, "Judge M. R. Mirabal Homestead in New Mexico" "Artist Karla King--So Calif and New Mexico--Artists of West--WHAA". This is probably of historical interest, depicting as it does an early home. The work is very impasto and impressionistic. The painting is a bit soiled but could be placed on the wall as is. Note the two young girls on the porch.

A pleasing watercolor painting of small boats in a coastal landscape in England, 10" by 14 3/4" (13" by 17 3/4" framed), signed at lower right twice, by listed English artist JOHN MORTIMER. Mortimer painted watercolors in Cornwall, Devon, Sussex, and other parts of the British Isles. The work is in excellent condition. Old backing has a print of a landscape. Lithograph on paper, 7 1/2" by 4 1/2" (13 1/8" by 10" as framed), signed in pencil at lower right by the noted German Jewish artist HERMANN STRUCK (1876-1944). The subject is a man wearing a cap. Struck was born in Berlin or Orthodox Jewish parentage. Early in his life he met the Zionist leader Theodor Herzl (1860-1904), a meeting which profoundly influenced the artist. Struck's most desirable subject matter, scenes of Israel from the late 1920's, have brought to the $25,000 area at auction...

Pencil signed at lower right and bearing "Artist's Proof" at lower left is this etching, 10 3/4" by 8 1/2" inside the mat, 18 3/4" by 15 3/4" as framed, by the noted late American artist JACK LEVINE (1915-2010). Levine, deceased in 2010 at the age of 95, will be remembered as an artist who bucked the modernism trends to pursue his own trail in social satire, caricature, and "Hebraism". He was born in Boston and was exposed to the grittier aspects of street life...

This is a classic landscape of high mountains in the American west---possibly Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho or Montana, or the Pacific Northwest. The peak has a volcanic look to it so I might lean towards Oregon or Washington or Northern California even...

Watercolor on paper, measuring approximately 12" by 16 1/2" (19" by 23" as framed), the subject El Capitan peak, also called Agathla by the Navajo people, a sharp, distinct isolated mountain south of Monument Valley, Arizona, over 1500 feet (457 meters) high. The drawing is titled "El Capitan" at lower left and signed with what appears to be "Turla" at lower right; I don't see a listing for that artist name. Nevertheless the work is nicely done and should appeal to the collector of art of the ...

A PAIR of American oil on board mountain landscapes, each 23 1/2" by 11 3/4" (29 1/2" by 17 1/2" framed), both signed at lower corner A. A. Baker. There does not seem to be biographical information on the Hudson River-inspired artist, who likely painted these in the mid 1880's. It is doubtful that they have ever been cleaned. There is a smell of smoke. One has a 1" puncture of the board (in the tree at right), the pressure having come from the reverse side; the piece remains attached. Frames...
