A group of three engravings probably by Johannas and Raphael Sadeler of Christian anchorites or hermits. The prints are after Maartin De Vos. These images were widely circulated in the early 17th century and printed and re-engraved by engravers other than the Sadelers. Interestingly of the three in this group two have no title, though they are trimmed right to the image and perhaps the title was removed...

Taken from a book with legends of the saints in Latin. Apollinaris was considered the founder and bishop of the Christian community of Ravenna. According to the legend, Apollinaris was apprehended at the gates of the city and brutally beaten to death.

Oil on canvas painting of a desert, late 20th century, 12" by 16" (19" by 23" framed), signed at lower left by California desert painter KENNETH WALFORD. This is a rather typical example of the work of this artist. I have handled a number of Walford's works. Most feature desert landscapes. Biographical information on the artist seems to be lacking at this time.

Small contemporary unframed painting, 10" by 8", signed at lower right "Harper", of a classic old late Victorian gingerbread house, complete with the turret rooms and wraparound porch that was so common in homes built during that period. It would have been nice had the artist identified the address, but that was not to be. The work is in excellent condition.

A charcoal and color chalk drawing of a young boy, 8 1/2" by 4 1/2" inside the mat and 11 1/2" by 7 1/2" framed, apparently unsigned. The work is affixed at three edges to another sheet, I was able to peer into the back via the open side and do not see any writing or other information there. The drawing extends beyond the mat, as shown. Nicely executed work by unknown artist.

An antique Kearsley hand coloured snake copper plate engraving print from 1801. This is a really fine example and it is entitled "VIPER-HEADAED SNAKE", from the original by James Heath. Published in 1801 for inclusion in "Kearsley's Systematic Natural History" series published in various volumes and with various topics beginning in 1800, this plate is from Volume 3 "Amphibia", published in 1802. Watercolor on paper painting of a traditional Chinese junk near the shore of a reedy body of water, 15" by 11 1/2" (20 1/2" by 16 1/2" in simple blond wood look framing), signed at lower left in pencil with what appears to be the name "Tang". The transparent washes and deft handling make for a pleasing and calming image that is a fine alternative to a print. The work is affixed or pressed against the backing by the glass---there is not a proper mount.

Wall-ready open edition modern color print from the Ethan Allan Home Collection, after the painting "The Parson's Cat", by the Dutch-born woman artist HENRIETTE RONNER-KNIP (1821-1909). The art measures 8 3/4" by 11 3/4" inside the double mat, and 19" by 21 1/2" as nicely framed. The artist's original oils regularly achieve the mid five figures at auctions, and a number have exceeded six figures...

A nicely painted and tranquil signed watercolour of a sailboat on a lake with islands and distant mountains c1920s. This 7-1/8" x 4-1/2" sight size picture is in what appears to be the original gilt and painted wood embossed 10-1/4" x 7-1/2" frame with a gold mat. It is signed L. Livingston (unidentified), and it is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, fading, tears, staining, foxing, losses, damage or repairs...

Oil on burlap type canvas, unframed, 29 1/2" by 15", signed at lower right "BEKE", date circa 1950's or early 1960's most likely. The scene is a classic Mediterranean coastline in Italy or Spain, or, just a generic Mediterranean scene conceived by the artist. I don't see a listing for this artist so am offering this as a decorative piece. It is soiled, and would brighten substantially with a professional cleaning.

Irving Amen's works are most commonly prints, as he is considered a master print maker in woodblock, etching, lithography and silk screen; this example appears to be etching or etching with aquatint. He also executed oils and acrylics in the course of a long career. This work, titled at lower left in pencil "Tenderness" and numbered there 89/200 examples, is signed in pencil at lower right. The print measures 18 3/8" by 12 1/4" inside the mat (23 1/2" by 17 1/2" as framed)...

Vintage watercolor painting of a bridge, a brick smokestack in the distance and some trees at right, signed at lower right by artist E. M. Woodworth and dated there 1915. The piece as framed in veneer mahogany measures 17" by 20 1/2", the painting itself 10" by 13 3/4". Found in Connecticut; likely a northeastern scene. Simple and charming. Small chip to veneer at upper and lower right corners. Glass reflection at top.

Antique watercolor painting of five rabbits in a grassy scene, feasting on several peaches, some reduced to just pits. The charming work measures 5 1/4" by 6 7/8" (and the old gold turn of the century frame is 11 1/4" by 13 1/4"). Frame is in above average condition for a frame of its type and period, with just one gold-painted area at left edge where there had been some loss of the design.

American watercolor painting on heavy watercolor paper, of trees in a shaded landscape, circa mid 20th century. The unsigned work measures 15 1/2" by 22 1/2" (unframed). Condition is excellent; small pinholes in corners where the artist had this affixed while working on it. Could probably be sent rolled in a tube for savings on shipping.

Born in Indiana, the artist studied in the San Francisco Bay area and also lived for significant periods of time in Smithfield, Rhode Island. Her generally small paintings of vases with flowers, similar to this one, are often encountered especially in the Northeast...

Impressionist painting of harborside buildings, apparently American as original "$70.00" price on reverse appears adjacent to title "Fishing Village" and the 1965 date---although the subject appears more European. Work is on Masonite, and measures 18" by 22" as framed in white and black painted wood. That framing is scuffed and soiled, shows its age. If you are handy and so inclined you could restore it nicely, retaining the original period look, or, re-frame...
