Original oil painting on canvas by Edgar Yaeger (USA, 1904-1997), signed and dated 1984 l.r. Also bearing gallery label from the Cincinnati Art Galleries stating the title of the work ("The Overlook"). Yaeger's work has been shown in such venues as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the AIC, PAFA, etc. One of two works by this artist currently available.

Original oil painting on paper by Andrea Pietro de Zerega (American, born in Italy, 1916-1990), framed in period frame under glass, signed and dated l.l. also signed, titled "Storming at Edgewater", monogrammed twice,and dedicated "To my good friends the Hurburts" verso. 16" by 20" painting alone, 22" by 26" with frame. Zerega studied at the Corcoran School of Art. He worked and lived in Washington DC and in Italy. Well listed, exhibited, and collected.

A contemporary (new/newish) oil on canvas painting of a late 19th century hybrid sail and steamship, (of the type common in the 1880's and 1890's), 24" by 36" (35" by 46 1/2" framed), unsigned. Beautifully hand painted by an obviously skilled artist. Condition is excellent. The attractive framing is very heavy and apparently of a dense wood. These sorts of paintings though not old and antique are appealing and being of more recent origin are usually found in good condition...

** PAIR** American 19th century oil on board landscape paintings in Hudson River style, each signed at lower right by listed artist FRANKLIN JAY LEWIS (1838-1910). The feathery trees, color scheme and general handling are in the tradition of the Hudson River School of the eastern states, but these scenes may in fact have been painted in California. The artist was born in Wells, Vermont, and crossed the continent at great effort in 1868, arriving in San Jose, California to begin a new life...

A classic old landscape with figures, old structures and feathery trees, somewhat in the Old Master tradition, but created in the mid 19th century, likely in New York, by an unknown yet obviously accomplished artist. The oil on canvas, unframed, measures 24" by 32 1/4". On the reverse are two canvas stencil stamps, one from London, (G. Rowney & Co.), one from New York (Goupil & Co., 289 Broadway)...

I acquired it in 1990 in central California, and had it repaired in San Francisco...

Petersen was a widely traveled artist, who, according to the Hughes biographical listing in Artists of California, studied art in Paris, Rome and Munich, working as a decorator...

Fine old painting of a young woman in a most distinctive red-striped dress, signed at lower right by American artist REVINGTON ARTHUR (1908-1986). This painting has composition, a great palette and blond light, and a modernist feel. It stands in contrast to much of his work, which was executed in rather dark colors. The artist was a student of George Luks, Arshile Gorky, and Kimon Nicolaides...

Painting of various complete southwestern pottery vessels, and a broken shard of one, all seemingly floating weightless in an intentionally poorly defined space, all painted in a hyperrealist style, signed at lower right "Doyle" and dated 2005 with copyright symbol. A label on the reverse gives the artist's full name, Ed Doyle, the title, "The First Shard", and the original price, $1000. The oil on canvas on board measures 23 5/8" by 23 5/8" and 30" by 30" as framed...

Ireland lived on the Philadelphia Main Line and exhibited at the Stabler gallery during the 1950's in NYC. She is listed in "Women Artists in America".

Large original mixed media and collage on canvas by George Joseph Habergritz (American, 1909-1998), circa 1950-1960. This impressive work is signed l.l. It measures 28" by 38" (work alone). Provenance: direct gift of the artist to a New York friend. George Joseph Habergritz was active in New York City. He studied in Paris before WWII (Academie de la Grande Chaumiere) and in New York (NAD and Cooper Union). He was later an art instructor at the ASL, and also lectured on ethnographic art...

Original mixed media (watercolor, gouache, ink) on paper by Judith Shahn (USA, born in Paris, worked in New York and Cape Cod, 1929-2009). Signed lower right. Frame is by Robert Kulicke. Judith Shahn was Ben Shahn's daughter. She studied with her father and Moses Soyer. Her work appeared in the New Yorker Magazine, Harpers, The Nation, etc.
