Original watercolor of a typical scene in the sub-tropical island of Bermuda, 9" by 13 1/2" (18 1/2" by 22" in its gold frame), apparently unsigned, probably executed in the early 20th century. The painting's subject is a pink-walled home at left with two palm trees growing in the yard, a view to the water at right center. The painting is laid down on a board, and the gold overmat is glued down on top of it, so, were there a signature/date, it is hidden by the mat...

This is a very early watercolor, 9 1/2" by 5 3/4" framed, in the style of the early 19th century, titled at bottom "Double Rose", by an anonymous artist lost to time. His or her handiwork has survived likely 150 years or more but has lost a little color from fading, and the paper has browned. These are not faults---rather, they give the drawing age and character...

The work, found in New England, was mounted on an old board years ago. As it was loose in the frame, I have removed it for photography, and will ship it between boards. The old frame has some losses and is available at no extra cost. Research to date has not led to a listed artist name that would correspond...

Watercolor and gouache on paper laid on thin card painting of a typical street scene in an Austrian city, 12 1/2" by 8 1/2" (17" by 13" in circa 1920's black frame), signed at extreme lower left corner and dated there 1917. Watercolor on paper, 10 1/2" by 16 1/2" image size, (20 1/2" by 26 1/2" in attractive silvery modern-day framing), signed at lower left "P. Sandby 1793". The peaceful rural scene includes two cows, a haystack and at least three structures among the feathery trees. From images sent to major auction house specialists in London, the opinion has come back that this is very likely a work by someone of the period who copied Sandby's style. Paul Sandby (1731-1809) was an English mapmaker who went on...
