Found in New Hampshire, and bearing the label of a contemporary Portland, Maine frame shop, a watercolor painting of an old barge grounded on the shore of a creek adjacent to a woodland, a small house in the distance. The 11" by 14" work (17 1/2" by 20" framed) is signed at lower left and dated there "80". The signature appears to read "Ranger", as in Henry Ward Ranger (1858-1916), a well-known American artist. This is a possibility but could be difficult to confirm...

An impressionistic watercolor painting of trees on the bank of a small lake or pond, signed at lower right by artist "M. MASAHIRO". The vintage work is very faintly painted, almost in the manner of artist Yamada Baske. The tree trunks are the most distinct features, while much of the rest of the scene is filmy, gauzy, ephemeral, foggy. An impressive little work (6 1/2" by 13", 11 3/4" by 18" in metal frame). Watercolor on paper, 10 1/4" by 5 1/4" (15 1/2" by 10 1/2" framed), the subject apparently an ornate inner courtyard of a famous Portuguese palace and present day tourist magnet, the Sintra National Palace near Lisbon. I am guessing on this, having googled various possibilities, but comparing the window style, wonderful tile details and the castellated ledge at top, I think the odds are excellent that this be the Portuguese subject...

Circa 1900 watercolor of the heart of Venice, Italy, including the familiar sights of canal and gondola, St. Mark's Basilica church and the famous clock tower on the Piazza San Marco, signed at lower left "E.K. Her work is shown worldwide. This is one of seven pictures we have. It is mounted on silk brocade. The entire area is 19 inches by 29 inches; the picture size is 13 inches by 18 inches.
