I take from the website of the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts: "Dell Weller studied four years at the Art Students League in New York. After two years of study in Mexico, he returned to New Orleans. He developed a widespread reputation for his wildlife etchings...

Andrew Thomas Schwartz (American, 1867-1942) oil on canvas of a hilly landscape with the morning mist rising off the more distant hills. A few evergreens, probably cedars, sit in the field that appears to be tan with autumn. The only sign of habitation is a low stone wall. A very similar painting though slightly larger was sold at Doyle in New York in 2006 titled, “Clearing, Morning, Blue Ridge Mountains, Virginia” and dated 1912...

Fruge painted mostly watercolors and was a familiar and beloved part of the Jackson Square tourist scene in New Orleans for decades. He painted mainly French Quarter scenes but also on occasion works such as bayou swamp landscape...

A work on canvas, 16" by 20", unframed/unsigned, featuring spatter drips in blue, red, yellow and a touch of green, on a white ground, in the style of famed modern American painter Sam Francis. I think the paint is likely acrylic. The work is a rather more affordable version, compared to the six or seven figure paintings by the master. A pleasing addition to your Mid Century interior, in excellent condition.
