This is a relatively earlier (1976 or before) work of the noted Bermudian artist ALFRED BIRDSEY (1912-1996). Birdsey was a familiar figure in Bermuda for decades, a prolific artist, the works of whom traveled with tourists when they returned from holidays. This would account for the wide distribution of his distinctive work. Today his daughter continues the family tradition, with similar looking paintings being sold to visitors. Birdsey worked in gouache or possibly oil or acrylic on paper...

Oil on Masonite painting of a high desert of the Southwest, 8" by 9 3/4", unframed, signed in red with initials at lower left. Probably dates to the 1960's or 1970's. Put an eight by ten inch frame on it and you will have a very nice little landscape for your wall.

The painting is signed at lower right by the artist; the first name is Bruce and the last name is difficult to make out, perhaps Hailey, Harley, Hurley or similar...

Nicely drawn watercolor and pencil work titled "The Entrance" on backing, signed at lower left by German-born contemporary artist and author "Renata Zerner", and dated 1972. The piece measures 17" by 11" and 20 1/4" by 17 1/4" in the period aluminum frame. The image is quite mysterious and dreamy, a male and a female torso standing on either side of a portal of sorts. The artist has left it to the viewer to decide exactly where "The Entrance" leads. Condition is excellent...

This is a nicely executed watercolor featuring a red barn and small house apparently in autumn, signed at lower right and dated there 1973 by contemporary artist JOHN S. McFEDRIES. I do not see a listing for the artist but some other works by him can be viewed on the net (and I have a New Mexico watercolor by him in my shop). The painting measures 16" by 22 1/2" inside the mat and (25" by 31 1/2" framed). The painting is in excellent, fresh condition but there is no glass...

A large oil on canvas, 36" by 24" (44" by 32" framed), the subject a number of circus clowns, skillfully painted, signed at lower right by noted American clown artist ROBERT OWEN (1930-). Owen was born in Polk County, Missouri. For many years he has been recognized as a master at painting clowns. Reproduction prints have been made from many paintings. This example is in excellent condition. Note also the interesting framing.

I believe the work is likely by a listed artist but I cannot come up with any listing from the name, at least as I am reading it. Perhaps more research might identify the artist. The painting is competently executed...

Oil on board, likely Canadian painting of a curling scene on a large ice rink with a large number of spectators and players, painted very competently in a very charming folk-art style, signed at lower right "S. S. Heath" and dated there 1973. The work reminds a bit of the whimsical folky Canadian paintings of Allen Sapp or William Kurelek. Suprisingly, I see absolutely no information or auction record for any artist of this name...
