For a number of years there has been confusion as to whether these 19th century dog paintings of this period were by the noted Taos, New Mexico artist Joseph Henry Sharp (1859-1953), as the signatures are very similar indeed, and the artist did study in Europe before coming to America...

An American portrait miniature of a woman with strong features and striking presence. Excellent condition, although the photo came out somewhat blurry. A card with illegible writing was inside the traveling case which measures 4" by 3 1/8" when closed. The sight size is 2 5/8" by 2".

A PAIR of oil on canvas paintings, one featuring a large sprig of small white flowers and leaves, the other larger one a vessel on a table filled with and surrounded by violets. Both are signed at lower right in red "L. F. Haftzger", and the larger one has "1899" written on the reverse side of the canvas.
