Oil on canvas, 15" by 19" (22" by 25 1/2" as framed), the subject the famous Taos Pueblo of northern New Mexico, an iconic scene of the Great Southwest, the painting signed at lower right "Stowell". Included in this picture is a stormy dark sky, the pueblo itself bathed in a ray of sun, and no less than eight figures and one saddled horse. I have researched the signature and cannot definitively tie this to any particular artist, listed or otherwise...

A late 1940s or early 1950s oil on canvas work, measuring 20” x 27” depicting Lake Tanganyika, painted in plein aire.
Unsigned oil on canvas work depicting a 17th rigged sailing ship done in the 1940s
Oil on board, 21" by 31" (27" by 37" framed), unsigned, the view late autumn or early winter in high western mountains, snow already on the ground and peaks but brown leaves still holding on to a few trees. The work is really very nicely done and I believe it quite likely that the artist is listed, but unfortunately it is just not signed. The painting likely dates to about the 1950's or early 1960's at latest...

Oil on canvas circa 1950.
Measurements - appx. 30" x 36".
Condition - very good and original.
Unsigned acrylic/oil portrait of a woman worker acquired from a Hong Kong auction. I am assuming this was painted while China and Russia were still friends so would date this pre 1960. Good example of Socialist Realism (girl meets tractor) kitsch, W: 35cm/13.8in and H: 45.cm/17.8in.
A rather elegant landscape painting with a modern feeling, the predominating colors subdued yet elegant grays and earth tones, signed rather illegibly with a European hand at lower right corner and dated there 53. The unframed work on canvas measures 23 1/2" by 31 1/2". Signature looks something like "Oltarini" or "Ott....." or "Ult....." but despite years of trying to figure this out I have not succeeded...

A small watercolor and ink drawing of the famous old Brulatour courtyard, 520 Royal Street in the New Orleans Vieux Carre (French Quarter), signed at lower right and dated there '51 (and titled/signed/dated again on the reverse backing) by New Orleans artist E. ALVA EDWARDS. Internet research suggests but cannot confirm that this be a work by one EDWIN ALVA EDWARDS JR. (1914-1988) of the Baton Rouge area. The clean piece measures 9 1/2" by 7 1/2" as framed...
“Bonnard’s Bananas” watercolor by Reese Paresce, 21”x15”, framed size 31x25”
An impressionistic landscape of the arid American Southwest, possibly California, 20" by 30" (24" by 34" framed), signed at lower right by noted listed artist CHARLES DAMROW (1916-1989). The work features rugged mountains with no figures included. Damrow was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and headed west at age 13 on his own (the youngest of 15 children). He became infatuated with everything western, in the course of his life painting cowboys, Indians, tipis, bison, bears, horses...
An illustration art-style color drawing (ink and watercolor) of a pipe-smoking uniformed military officer, possibly a general or other top brass, surrounded by cupids playing with military equipment such as mobile guns, a drone bomb, etc., signed with a capital W in a circle at lower right. It has been suggested to me that this could be a British military colonel (I originally thought him American)...
**One of a number of Venice works in my shop** Watercolor painting of a classic Venetian view including canal gondola and the famous church in the background, 4 1/2" by 7 1/2" (10" by 13 1/4" as framed without glass), signed at lower right corner "G. Romanello". This is a twentieth century work, perhaps from the 1950's, or, possibly, earlier. I do not see a listing for the name...
An impressionistic watercolor painting of trees on the bank of a small lake or pond, signed at lower right by artist "M. MASAHIRO". The vintage work is very faintly painted, almost in the manner of artist Yamada Baske. The tree trunks are the most distinct features, while much of the rest of the scene is filmy, gauzy, ephemeral, foggy. An impressive little work (6 1/2" by 13", 11 3/4" by 18" in metal frame). Allow for reflections in some images. Due to the fuzziness of the imagery itself, t...
