Henry Mortikar Rosenberg 1858-1947 Canadian/American This is an original oil on board painting by American artist Henry Mortikar Rosenberg. This study of a museum visitor was originally in the collection of the Mobile Museum of Art, Alabama. The painting is signed lower right in pencil and inscribed on the back. The image measures 16X12 inches. A few minor spots of touch up, nothing major. A fine modernist impression. Rosenberg studied under Frank Duveneck.

A work signed at lower right, of the noted Bermudian artist ALFRED BIRDSEY (1912-1996), the full sheet measuring 19 1/2" by 24" (26 1/2" by 31 1/2" framed behind glass). Birdsey was a familiar figure in Bermuda for decades, a prolific artist, the works of whom traveled home with tourists to the island. This would account for the wide distribution of his distinctive work. Today his daughter continues the family tradition, with similar looking paintings being sold to visitors...

The piece, measuring 14 1/2" by 10 1/2" (23" by 19" framed), features grasses at the sand's edge. This would have been painted around the time that the Laguna Beach art colony was at its classical peak, when the town was a magnet to artists of all sorts...

By the hand of listed American artist HUGO MELVILLE FISHER (1876-1946), an impressive oil on canvas painting of the vegetated banks of a river on a spring day, 23" by 27" (31" by 35" attractively framed), signed at lower right corner in red. The work measures 16 1/2" by 11 1/2" inside the mat and 22 1/2" by 17 3/4" framed. Patrick was in Los Angeles by 1910. A physician, she is known to have painted florals and landscapes. In 1937 the prestigious Stendahl Gallery held an exhibition of her work. Patrick was active in local art clubs, including Painters and Sculptors of Los Angeles, in 1936-37...

An old watercolor painting titled at lower left "Atitlan Guatemala", signed at lower right by artist "M. Moody". This may be a listed watercolor artist by the name of Marion Moody but that cannot be confirmed. The work is well handled, the old architecture and five foreground figures nicely painted. Lake Atitlan is a famous scenic lake in central Guatemala, ringed by volcanic peaks and popular with tourists to this day. The painting measures 9 3/4" by 13" (13" by 17" framed).
