One of a number of Whistler lithographs I am offering: "Portrait of Stephane Mallarme", 1892-93, measuring 3 1/2" by 2 3/4", mounted with hinges at top corners and in a protective sleeve. A label of Davidson Galleries, Seattle remains with the print. There are several condition issues. There is a jagged paper tear of about 1" at upper left, extending roughly down the level of his ear, though, well to the left of it, in the unprinted area...

The image is titled: The Walls of Miraflores Lock, 1912. The image measures 18 1/2X24 3/4 inches, on a Fabiano watermarked laid type paper which measures 20 1/2X25 1/2 inches.

This print is Haku Maki’s 78-6 水Water, number 108 in an edition of 151. Earlier that year,1978, he had already produced dramatic single-kanji large black and white prints. The first two, 78-1 Mountain and 78-2 Water, both horizontal prints, were 17in W x 9.25in H. They were followed soon after by 78-6, also horizontal.
But this depiction of the kanji for water is nearly twice the size of the previous two: his 78-6 is 32.5 inches wide and 17 inches high (83cm W X 43.5cm H)...
Linocut print, the sheet 10 1/4" by 14", unframed, numbered at lower left 70/100 and pencil signed at lower right and dated there 1971, the "HB" blind stamp nearby, by the important and still highly underrated Swiss-California modernist HANS GUSTAV BURKHARDT (1904-1994). The subject is somewhat uncertain; perhaps a look at a catalogue raisonne of the artist's graphic works would provide the title...
