Poem 70-10 is the kanji for day 日. It is a striking, simply executed print. Created in 1970, it is now over a half-century old. The print is 17.5in W x 24.5in H, large (but not huge). As Daniel Tretiak has said: In 1970 quite suddenly Haku Maki started producing truly large prints. He tells us that this one was large but Maki was destined to do even larger ones, that year and in 1973.

A Karl (Carl) Schultheiss numbered etching circa 1930. This 8-3/4" x 6-5/8" numbered, limited closed edition engraving probably of Angers Cathedral is by the German engraver Karl (Carl) Max Schultheiss (1885-1961). Starting out in Germany, he moved to the U.S. in the 1930s, where he had a 1938 exhibition of his etchings at the Art Institute of Chicago...

Original print in black and white, described on paperwork affixed to the backing as a Heliogravure, 10 1/4" by 8 3/4" inside the mat (26" by 22" as framed), not signed or numbered. The popular and familiar image is "Gabrielle et Jean" (after the famous painting of Renoir's wife and son). Heliogravure is described as one of the very earliest photographic etching processes. Apparently in 1919 at the artist's death, heliogravures were made of many of his popular paintings...

Original scarce and desirable unframed 1915 etching known as "New York, From Brooklyn", signed at lower center in pencil by the important American etcher, illustrator, critic, author and teacher JOSEPH PENNELL (1857-1926). The sheet, unframed, measures 11 1/4" by 15 1/2". Original color etching, engraving, and mixed media by Pierre Courtin (French, born 1921). This rare work is signed l.r. It is also titled "Reims", dated "21 octobre 1959", and numbered 4/4. The plate measures 17 1/4" by 7 1/2 " (44cm by 19cm). The framed dimensions are 26" by 15". Appears to be in excellent condition. Pierre Courtin in one of the most important master engravers of the 20th century.

An example of the etching "The Complete Angler", by the noted English artist credited with creating the so-called "Etching Revival" of the latter 19th century, FRANCIS SEYMOUR-HADEN (1818-1910). The print is signed in the plate and lower right and dated there 1877, but was likely printed in the year 1880, in an edition of 1000. Measurements are 6 1/2" by 8 3/4" inside the present mat and 12 1/2" by 14 3/4" as framed...

A Hand Colored Botanical Print Portraying Four Varieties of Watsonia. The Artist is the Victorian Jane Webb Loudon (1807-1858), and the Print is from the book “The Ladies Flower Garden of Ornamental Bulbous Plants” (plate 9), published in 1841 by Day and Haghe London, Lithographer to Queen Victoria. Jean Louis Forain 1852-1931 French This is a very rare original drypoint etching by French artist Jean-Louis Forain, the title is C'est Fini, this drypoint was created and printed circa 1890, there was a later Verticle composition with the same name. This image measures 9 1/2X12 inches. Printed on a medium weight laid type sheet,. Weve been unable to find another example of this scarce drypoint. Hand signed in pencil lower right.

Haku Maki did many prints some with interesting backgrounds some not. This modest run of rather large pints had a special black background: it is the texture of old leather. . Maki created and used this technique only in 1981 prints and mainly in persimmons. The persimmons are plump and meaty the green leaves of the fruit are nicely proportioned.
