One of a number of Whistler lithographs I am offering: "Firelight: Joseph Pennell No. 1", 1896, sheet approximately measuring 13 3/4" by 10 1/4", currently in a mat with window, hinged at top edge, not laid down, unframed. Generally clean, with some imperfections along edges. Whistler created some 179 lithographs in his career, in addition to more graphic art as etchings, along with paintings, pastels, and watercolor...

A true lithograph, possibly titled "Litografia VI", 9 1/2" by 12 1/2" inside the mat, 12 1/2" by 15 1/2" including the mat, unframed, by the famous Spanish modern artist who needs little introduction, JOAN MIRO (1893-1983). I do not know when this was produced or if the edition was limited. The mat is permanently glued down over the work, which is also apparently permanently affixed to the foamboard backing. Colors are very bright...

Young Flute Player is the title of an oil painting by Benedetto Luti from the 1720’s, now in the Hermitage. An earlier version by Luti depicted a young boy in a blue jacket without any instrument. This engraving, made by Victor Marie Picot was published in London in 1780 as Boy and Lute, obviously mixing up the motif and the artist (!). Contributing to this is probably the Walpole family crest having been pushed in between the letters of the title...

Wenceslaus Hollar Hanns Holbein Portrait c 1647 Self-portrait of Hans Holbein as 45-years old in 1543. This copy was engraved by Hollar in 1647. Fair condition mounted corners on left side may have restoration . good image a bit over 5.5" and a bit under 4.5"

A fabulous lithograph signed and numbered depicting a view of a harbor scene. . Othon Friesz was born in Le Havre, the son of a long line of shipbuilders and sea captains. He went to school in his native city. It was while he was at the Lycée that he met his lifelong friend Raoul Dufy. He and Dufy studied at the Le Havre School of Fine Arts in 1895-96 and then went to Paris together for further study. In Paris, Friesz met Henri Matisse, Albert Marquet, and Georges Rouault...

Set of FOUR woodblock prints on special Kizuki Hosho paper from the Book-of the-Month Club series, circa late 1960's/early 1970's, each signed and bearing a red seal, by the important post-war Japanese sosaku hanga artist KIYOSHI SAITO (1907-1997). Saito was one of the first woodblock artists from Japan to be widely accepted by an international audience...

Stephen Parrish, American, 1846-1938, "Fishermen's Houses, Cape Ann". This is a very fine original etching by Stephen Parrish, published by Keppel in 1881. The image size is 12 x 19 inches, cat: Schneider-49, plate signed and titled, pencil signed. According to Schneider, this atmospheric image of the Massachusetts shore was one of Parrish's most popular etchings...

Original Japanese woodblock print by Utagawa Hiroshige (Hiroshige II), from his series "One Hundred Famous Views in the Various Provinces (Shokoku meisho hyakkei)", circa 1860. This vertical oban is signed Hiroshige ga. Published by Uoya Eikishi. Beautiful color and condition. Never framed. A rare print from a series partially based on Hiroshige I's series (Famous Views of the 60-odd Provinces). This particular view by his protege is not based on a Hiroshige I work.

An Old Master woodcut, likely one of 118 images illustrating one of the greatest books of the German Renaissance, going by that same name, Theuerdank. The book is considered something of a chivalric romance, relating the fictionalized, romanticized adventures of Maximilian I in the course of his journey to the Netherlands in 1477 to fetch his bride, Mary of Burgundy. Apparently Maximilian, also known as the Holy Roman Emperor (1459-1519), wanted to achieve a measure of immortality...

Color lithograph on paper, the sheet 12 3/4" by 9 3/4" (17 1/2" by 15" in attractive silvery framing), signed only in the plate and dated nearby Octobre 46, by important French 20th century woman artist MARIE LAURENCIN (1885-1956). The edition of 950 examples, now scarce, was printed by Publ. Beres, Paris, for the album "Sainte Catherine--Poemes de Paul Eluard". The image is typical of the work of this noted artist...

Ruth Doris Swett 1901- Member of Southern Printmakers This is an original drypoint etching by American Southern artist Ruth Doris Swett. The title of this etching is Deer Isle Spruces, created when she was summering up in Maine. This etching is pencil signed, titled and dedicated to: Margarest Strong. The image measures 12X8 7/8 inches. Printed on a medium weight wove type paper in an edition of 50.

Edmond Francois Aman-Jean 1858-1936 French This is a fine pencil signed lithograph by French impressionist Edmond Francois Aman-Jean. This image measures 13 3/8X14 5/8 inches. Very fine condition, printed on a wove type paper. The subject is Mile Moreno who played in the Comedie Francaise show this image was created and printed in 1898

Joseph Pennell 1857-1926 American This is a fairly scarce etching by American artist Joseph Pennell. The title is: Chelsea, No. II, it was created and printed in 1886, in an edition of only 20. Hand signed in pencil by the artist. The image measures 6 1/2X9 1/2 inches. This imag appears in the Wuerth catalog as image number 114. Printed on a medium weight wove type sheet. Chelsea Bridge is a bridge over the River Thames in west London.

Original scarce to rare etching of the year 1910, "The Avenue, Valenciennes", signed at lower right margin in pencil by the important American etcher, illustrator, critic, author and teacher JOSEPH PENNELL (1857-1926)...

Stated "One of twenty" prints by illustrator and children's book publisher. Helena Chase Johnson. The print is also marked "For Norman" along with her signature. An interesting note -- Chase owned The Little Hotel by the Sea (located at the Grande Colonial Hotel in La Jolla, Calif.) The hotel boasted of having a beautiful six-passenger mahogany elevator, making it "The Littlest Hotel in the World with an Elevator."
