A color poster "Fragments", 1985, hand signed in marker at bottom by the noted California sculptor of human figures, ROBERT GRAHAM (1938-2008). The piece measuring 38 1/2" by 20 1/2" is very clean and fresh. Graham was born in Mexico City where as a youngster he was exposed to the great mural art of Mexico. An enhanced, dramatic color Cibachrome print photograph, hand titled "Cairo Cityscape Egypt 1979", also hand signed in the same silvery ink by the photographer, LYDIA CLARKE HESTON and numbered at lower center mat 10 of 20 examples. HESTON (1923-2018) was for 64 years the wife of the famous American actor, but was an independent woman who carved her own path despite being in the shadow of one of America's most famous faces of the 20th century...

Original 19th century albumen photograph by Jean-Pascal Sebah (1872-1947) depicting the old Cairo and the island of Rhoda (the photograph is titled in the plate l.l "Vieux Caire et Ile de Rowdah"). Signed in the plate l.r. Jean-Pascal Sebah was the son of Pascal Sebah (1823-1886). He continued the family studio in 1888 in Constantinople. The studio specialized in scenes of Egypt and the Middle East.

A vintage, 1972 re-issue of the Maurits Cornelius Escher print "Metamorphose" (1939-40), possibly a posthumous or commemorative printing, as its date coincides with the year of Escher's death. The publisher is given at far right margin as G. W. Breughel, and this was printed in Holland. Measurements are an unusual 8 3/4" by 41" in the narrow black metal frame (presently no glass). A very interesting and scarce double-page color lithograph print by the famous Spanish artist, JOAN MIRO (1893-1983), published in 1961 in "Derriere Le Miroir", measurements inside the mat 14 1/2" x 21", 21" by 27" as framed in metal frame. The perfect, classic addition to your contemporary interior. Condition seems to be very good overall, I note just a little browning, probably from tape residue showing from the reverse side, at very top and even less at very bottom...

J-10 is an exciting example not only of Haku Maki’s depiction of Chinese characters but also his use of a hard gold-edged board (instead of simple single or multiple sheets of paper). In the last year of Maki’s life, Daniel Tretiak tells us, he was ill but continued to work. He did lithographs on shikishi board, which was a hard board covered in white rice paper. The back was yellow with a small design in gold and the whole board is gold-edged. These words apply to J-10 as well...
