This is a color print after an original drawing of a young indigenous girl of about 3 looking directly at the viewer, the work signed in the print at lower left, and in ballpoint pen by hand at lower right, by the Canadian master artist NICHOLAS DE GRANDMAISON (1892-1978). One of two works by the artist in my shop, this is an etching on paper, 8 1/2" by 11" inside the mat opening, 20" by 15 1/2" framed, signed in pencil at lower right margin "PHILIP KAPPEL", and titled at lower left margin "West Indian Grandeur---Haiti". This is a fine etching of a figure on the coast balancing a load on her head as she gazes out to sea at a clipper ship in full sail, a coconut palm leaning exotically at left...

Scarce Currier and Ives lithograph print, sheet size 11" by 15", image area 8 1/2" by 12 3/8", titled "Prairie Hens". This is apparently a scarcer small folio image, as Cohenour prices it over $400 in his Currier price guide. The print is in acceptable condition, with the image area generally clean, and only one tiny spot of foxing visible, although there is a diagonal light crease at upper right corner, visible only when viewed in raking light...

In 1977 Haku Maki did the images for the months of the year. June is a horizontal print measuring 13.75in W x 6in H.

Woodblock on very thin, delicate Japan type paper, 14 1/2" by 10" inside the old mat, signed at lower right margin in Hebrew, numbered there 53/100, (part of the numbering apparently in green ink), the subject a holy or religious Jewish orthodox man with traditional clothing and hair style. I am not able to read the Hebrew and a friend who can was not able to decipher the writing. Regardless of artist name, the print is beautifully conceived and executed...
