Antique original lithograph of a standing nude by Julius John Pommer (American, 1895-1945). This wonderful nude dates from the thirties. It is dedicated l.l. and pencil signed l.r. Offered framed. Pommer was born in San Francisco and studied at the CSFA under Otis Oldfield. He was active in the Federal Arts Project in the thirties. Well listed (cf. Askart, Edan Hughes "Artists in California", etc.

This is an image of the original W/C which was painted several years back some early summer. The scene is quite different than the one seen in the national news coverage of the Mother's Day flood 2006 extensive and serious flooding of this Methuen MA river dam. Haku Maki did some purely white prints—some had a small splash of color, others had none. This one, 81-3, offers three white plump persimmons. Persimmons were an oft-used subject, sometimes a single depiction of the fruit, sometimes two, but very rarely three persimmons and even more rarely done only in white. The print measures 9.5in W x 10.75in H and is in excellent condition. An edition of 130, this one is number 90.

Japanese limited edition woodblock print by Morihiro Sato (b. 1943) depicting white bellflowers. A student of Joichi Hoshi who was influenced by Hoshi's use of metallic pigments, the artist set the flowers and partial moon (or sun) against a metallic background. Depending upon the lighting conditions (see image taken with flash) the background appears either golden or silver. An interesting and rather unusual part of the Emanation series that Haku Maki began to produce in the mid-1960s, Emanation 73 measures 8.3inW x 11.3inH and is the fourth of a small run of 50.

Poem 71-71 is a Maki depiction of 子 Child and is one of those large red kanji on a black background that Daniel Tretiak valled a Big Red. This one measures 12in W by 17.5in H and is no.13 of an edition of 153. It is in excellent condition.
