Original stone lithograph, not an offset print, 23 3/4" by 26 3/4" inside the mat (not examined out of frame), signed in the plate by the artist Jan TOOROP and dated in the plate 1915. Executed primarily in black, note the color----pale orange in the cap and shirt, blue in the trousers. Toorop is a major Dutch artist, one of whose works (painting) just exceeded $700,000 at auction. His prints and posters are much more affordable. I don't see that this one is pencil signed...

He created a series of lithographic images from that trip. This image is titled: Steam Shovel in the Cut at Bas Obispo , created and printed in 1912. The image measures 16 7/8X22 1/4 inches, printed on a Fabiano watermarked laid type paper. The overall sheet size is 25 1/2X20 1/2 inches.
