An interesting and inventive sculpture of a performing elephant balancing upon a ball whilst supporting an acrobat with his trunk. The sculpture is solid bronze and cast in the lost wax technique, cire perdue. This method is able to faithfully reproduce all of the quirky textures that the artist has chosen. The sculpture is mounted on a white marble base and is, as far as I can see, unsigned.

A very impressive limited edition bronze sculpture, "To Take a Scalp", 1978, by the important American western sculptor artist ROBERT "BOB" SCRIVER (1914-1999), measuring 19" by 13" by 11" high and weighing over 40 pounds on its own without a plinth or base. The work is numbered "3" (of a likely very small edition) and bears a dedication "To Bette From Bob Scriver". The work displays a fine greenish patina. A heavy bronze mid-century sculpture on a wood base, signed (incised) J. Soriano, measuring approximately 14" by 9" by 8" (bronze itself), the wood base about 10 1/2" high.  Note the fine lustrous brown patina. The signature is spurious, the work not by the famous Mexican artist sculptor Juan Soriano (so determined by correspondence from the representative/expert of his estate), but the anonymous work stands on its own merits, and it is likely to be of Mexican or South American origin...
