Contemporary jadeite carving of a fairy spirit named Liu-Hai. His right hand is holding a three legged frog called ¡°Chan¡±; a string of clouds extends from Chan¡¯s mouth. On the back of the carving is a large fan and on the top of the fan sits a lucky bat. Very interesting carving in good condition. H: 3 ½ inches, W: 2 ¾ inches, D: 1 ¾ inches

Exceptional Rattanakosin Bronze standing Buddha with alms bowl, 19th Century, Thailand. Richly incised robes and base with beautiful gilding, some traces of age and patina wear around chin, neck and on back of neckline, but no breakage or repairs. Large crater bowl, thinly potted of black clay and with green glaze pitted with craters for volcanic effect, Signed Lovera; Jamese Lovera (American, b. 1920) modernist potter. James Lovera exhibited at the Crocker Museum in Sacramento in 2006: "Craters of Fire: Ceramics by James Lovera".

Magnificent 19th Century standing Mandalay Buddha, wood with lacquer patina and gilding, standing on a lotus flower socle. The slender body wears an elaborate monk's garment. Fine workmanship including a beautiful turquoise headband (rarely found) and silver colored glass inlays on the borders of the flowing robe and the lotus pedestal. The Buddhas's left hand clasps his robe, the right one holds a myrobalan fruit. Very good condition considering the age...

A rare and magnificent imperial form Southeast Asian incense burner in the form of a Lion. Made of low grade silver the piece has compartments for incense and place to keep the extra incense. Measuring 17” height, 17” wide, and about 7” depth. Probably 1930s

From our African Collection: Gray Guro Mask 8 x 16"h. Between the Baule and the Yaure to the west, the Malinke to the north and the Bete and We to the south, the Guro people live surrounded by savannah and forest. They migrated from the north during the 16th century and number about 200,00. Guro villages have rounded houses in the northern area and rectangular houses in the southern region...

It is quite appropriate that a French sculptor created this bronze of Cinderella, for after all it was a French author who gave us the modern version of the beloved fairy tale of the young woman who went from riches to rags to riches with the help of a fairy godmother.

She is seated somewhat forlornly holding a spindle of yarn, but it is the two objects behind her feet which give away the story...

Original sculpture (polymer clay over wire) by Robert Lohman (American, 1919-2001). This works is signed "Lohman" and dated 1972 on the base. It measures 23 1/2" in height. Offered in good original condition. Robert Lohman studied at the John Herron Art Institute as well as Cranbrook and Yale. He assisted Carl Milles at Cranbrook before becoming Director of Fine Arts (1947-1949). Lohman also taught at Washington University in Saint-Louis, and at the Indianapolis Art League...

This fine sculpture is by the diverse and talented Ernesto Montenegro. Titled "Crosswalk," it displays pedestrians walking across the street. Montenegro's "magic" gives the viewer a bird's-eye perspective, as if looking down from above on the pedestrians. Montenegro achieves this illusion by dramatically abridging the figures. When viewed sideways, the people have grossly stunted legs, walking down the vertical face of the sculpture as if propelled across the street by gravity...

Sepik River Spear Effigy, Early 20th C. Wood and paint. 24" H.

A fine, large bronze animalier sculpture by Ferdinand Pautrot (1832-74). The figure represents a pair of pheasants, one perched on a gnarled barren branch while the other appears to strut along the ground. The body position of the lower bird gives the composition a great deal of movement that is often missing in classical animalier bronzes. The ground is covered in long grass that is somewhat less common than Pautrot's more characteristic rocky ground...

When I first saw this piece, it screamed to me "Picasso". The 11 1/2" by 7 1/2" work is not signed, but the style, the slight glaze on the baked clay surface, the decoration, is suggestive of the ceramic Madoura works of Picasso. The item weighs just shy of three pounds. Condition is excellent.

Original bronze bust with reddish-brown patina by Emile Pinedo (France, 1840-1916). Circa 1900. This work is titled "Lys" and is signed on the back. It also bears the "Bronze Garanti au Titre-Paris" mark on the base. 17 1/2" high. In excellent original condition.
