A rare, historical, early pastel on heavy paper laid to card drawing of a young Zuni indian girl in Arizona, unsigned, circa late 19th century, including the original gold mat, decorated with images of tipis and spears. The work measures 18" by 12" (entire mat) and 12 3/4" by 6 1/4" inside the mat. Sadly, the old antique work has been damaged. There is a darkened diagonal stain that extends from upper right down across the front of the face and into the hair...
An old watercolor painting titled at lower left "Atitlan Guatemala", signed at lower right by artist "M. Moody". This may be a listed watercolor artist by the name of Marion Moody but that cannot be confirmed. The work is well handled, the old architecture and five foreground figures nicely painted. Lake Atitlan is a famous scenic lake in central Guatemala, ringed by volcanic peaks and popular with tourists to this day. The painting measures 9 3/4" by 13" (13" by 17" framed).
Large mixed media abstract painting (28 3/4" by 39 1/2", 31 3/4" by 42 1/2" in gold leaf frame) on plywood panel, signed at lower right "WAHL", and dated there 2001. The painting is striking and handsome, the color combinations very in tune with today's retro contemporary look. A brief search of the name does not immediately point to a known artist. Medium is perhaps a thinned oil or gouache possibly, with some pencil lines drawn as well...

Watercolor on paper drawing, 15 1/2" by 21 1/2" (18 3/4" by 24 3/4" framed), the subject an ancient stone monastery perched on a dramatic cliffside with high coastal mountains in the distance at right. The work is signed at lower right "Balke-Gry" /1919/Pantocrator". A well-drawn pencil scene of the French coast of western Brittany, titled on reverse "Pecheurs a Douarnenez", signed at lower right by living French artist BRUNO DU TERTRE D'ELMARCQ. Douarnenez is one of the scenic towns much favored by artists since the 19th century. When I first saw this work I was reminded of the beach scenes of Eugene Boudin, the famed late 19th century French artist. The tiny figures, sails, and poetry all remind of that French master...
Oil on canvasboard, 18" by 24", the subject dramatic, fluted, snowy mountain ridges pictured perhaps in late fall, as autumnal colors dominate the creekside grasses in the foreground, the painting signed at lower left "A. Nebeker" and dated there 1966. The location might be but I feel it could be most likely somewhere like Utah or Colorado in the intermountain West, or possibly the eastern slope of the Sierra in California...

A classic work of 19th century American art: oil on artist's board painting of an elderly lady, apparently lost in thought, as she contemplates a bill and a paltry few coins in her palm, the proceeds from her sales of apples at two cents apiece (they seen in the right background). The 11 1/2" by 9 1/2" oval shaped painting (14" by 11 3/4" in the frame) is signed at right center "C. C. Markham" (CHARLES COLE MARKHAM, 1837-1907)...
