This is an original, not a copy. Ironically this: "Birches and Sunny Skies" was painted on a dark, gloomy New England day. Note the lone bird in flight. 2008 new clients, preferred repeat clients, art collectors who collect this artist's work, collectors who have left testimonial feedbacks and Trocadero dealers, all who have acquired pieces from www.mimideearwear.com have been mailed hand written, hand addressed greeting cards with a reduced print of this...

TWO JAPANESE WOODBLOCK PRINTS COMMEMORATING FREDERICK STARR & NOSATSU.

Frederick Starr was a professor of anthropology at Chicago University who first visited Japan in 1904 and made many subsequent visits. He wrote many papers on Japanese subjects but is probably best known in Japan for his interest in pilgrimage, he dressed in traditional pilgrim’s clothing and performed the Shikoku pilgrimage in 1917 and 1921...

Gouache on satin painting of a well-dressed French young woman of the 1950's, by artist O. Vorgang. The work, unframed, measures 12" by 9 1/2" inside an old mat. It is signed at lower right (difficult to decipher) and remaining on the old mat is a printed label "Water Original Hand Painting on Satin by O. Vorgang". "French Girl" is also written on the back of the card to which the satin is laid (as well as some other old handwriting)...

Oil on canvas painting of a traditional English cottage home adjacent to a pond where several ducks swim happily at right, signed at lower left by artist G. W. Andrews and dated there 1915. The work measures 16" by 12" and 19 1/2" by 15 1/2" framed. A figure stands on the small stone bridge overlooking the water. The painting is executed in a primitive hand but is very quaint and peaceful. Condition is excellent and stable, with no tears...

Etching, 4 3/4" by 6 5/8" inside the mat, 10" by 12 1/2" in simple black strip frame, titled in pencil at left margin "A Bermuda Lane" and signed in margin in pencil at lower right by artist RAY ALLEN. I do not see a listing for an artist of this name. The work likely dates to about the 1950's I would think, and is probably still in its original frame. The impression is strong, with a distinct plate mark. Disregard false yellow colors in some of the photos, which are an effect of the camera...

Watercolor on paper painting of a tree on a bluff by a sandy shore of an estuary or lake, 5 1/2" by 3 1/2" (8 1/2" by 7" in attractive gilt frame), signed at lower left by the noted French 19th century painter, GEORGES BECKER (c. 1845-1909). Becker apparently did not leave behind too many works, but those that have survived leave little doubt as to the talents he possessed. One especially fine history painting, depicting in glorious detail the Coronation of Alexander III and Maria Fyodorovna, ...

An old watercolor painting titled at lower left "Atitlan Guatemala", signed at lower right by artist "M. Moody". This may be a listed watercolor artist by the name of Marion Moody but that cannot be confirmed. The work is well handled, the old architecture and five foreground figures nicely painted. Lake Atitlan is a famous scenic lake in central Guatemala, ringed by volcanic peaks and popular with tourists to this day. The painting measures 9 3/4" by 13" (13" by 17" framed).

A very interesting etching of what appears to be Paris' Montmartre section, (the windmill a famous feature, painted by many artists), signed in pencil in the lower right margin "B. Vilard". Surprisingly I do not see a listing for an artist by this name---could possibly be a pen name.. The work measures 8 1/2" by 11" inside the mat and 13 3/4" by 16 1/4" framed. It is very clean and fresh, despite likely dating to the first half of the 20th century. Note the subtle blue/brown colors.

Watercolor on paper painting of a vase and flowers, 14 3/4" by 11 1/4" (21" by 16 1/2" framed), signed at lower right "L. Hirsch" and dated there 1979. I do not think the artist is listed but he or she has displayed considerable talent in creating this decorative and attractive work. The frame shows a little wear but is presentable overall. There is a handwritten label on the reverse, showing the title "FLOWERS AND FRUIT", and it appears that the word "Mexico" is included at the very bottom (...
