This is a pretty, impressionist circa 1930's small landscape painting of trees and a path bordering water, painted on gray art board, measuring 9" by 12" (13 1/2" by 16" framed). There is no signature on the front but on the art board label is written in ink "Swick". This may or may not be the artist. The painting is so nicely executed, but its inherent beauty is dulled by decades of dirt. A professional cleaning will truly transform this one...

An original panoramic photograph of San Francisco, circa 1950, the view appearing to be south and west from the Coit Tower at the top of Telegraph Hill. The photo is laid to a card. Measurements are 9 1/2" by 7" inside the existing mat and 16" by 13" in blond wood strip frame. The photo has come loose inside the frame. An uncommon miniature portrait, done in oil on copper, of a member of a Scandinavian royal family. The gentleman, wearing a red coat and blue tunic, is shown 3/4 length in a field.

The condition is good, with some scattered small losses, and looks better in person than the photo shows. Presented in its beautiful original bronze frame. Sight size is 3 1/4" by 2 1/2" and the frame size is 5" by 4 1/4".

**PAIR** color offset prints after two Southwest landscape paintings by the noted artist ED MELL (1942-), each laid on artboard and measuring 24" by 36". They were found in brown metal frames with no mat; frames available with the prints at no extra charge should the buyer want them. The prints show slight evidence of the edges perhaps being slightly trimmed, and there are some light scratches and small losses at extreme edges on one print as shown...

A watercolor miniature portrait done by Richard Morrell Staigg. The sitter is a nice-looking blue-eyed young man in a black coat and cravat, with a light blue vest. As is usual with Staigg, the painting is superbly limned. It is housed in one half of a leather case.

The condition is excellent, with no problems whatsoever. Sight size is 3 1/2" by 3".

Oil on wood panel painting of a Dutch city scene, painted in the 19th century style of artists such as Cornelius Springer, the work 16" by 20" (24" by 28" as nicely framed), signed at lower left "Shone". The work is contemporary though the artist was obviously familiar with the meticulous style of the earlier artists. Painting and frame are in excellent condition.

Internationally acclaimed artist Bruce Onobrakpeya (b. 1932 ) produced this expressionistic image of a black fishes during one of his earlier periods of artistic expression in 1963. The serigraph depicts gold fish swimming in a pond or lake expressing, perhaps, the beauties of African natural life. Onobrakpeya has a wide following, including Prince Phillip of the United Kingdom from whom Nigeria, Onobrakpeya's native country, gained independence in 1960...

A colorful print "Share Chanukah with the Children of Israel", pencil signed at lower right margin and numbered 46/150 at lower left, by the eastern Europe-born, Jewish-American artist CHAIM GROSS (1904-1991). The work measures 22" square (23 1/4" square in metal frame with detail-dulling non-glare style glass). Gross was well known for his "direct carving" sculpture in wood and stone, and began experimenting with printmaking as far back as 1929...

When I first saw this I thought it might be an image of Obama, in the style of Shepard Fairey, who created the now-famous "Hope" image. Upon closer examination I saw that it was obviously older, circa 1960's, judging from the label on the frame, which gives the artist as a Jim Moran of Visalia, California. The subject remains to me a mystery, but I wonder if it might be a famous 1960's African-American activist---or then again it might not be a black subject at all...
