According to Genesis, God the Father created Adam and placed him in the Garden of Eden. There he was given dominion over the animals, which he named. But he himself had no mate. God made Adam fall into a deep sleep and created his mate Eve from one of his ribs.

Unusually large detailed engraving, 31 1/4" by 20 1/8", laid down on board, of Christ coming down off the Cross, this example engraved by Nicolaus Dorigny (1657-1776), and possibly after Daniel Ricciarelli (1509-1566), in turn after a painting by Raphael. The work is dated 1720 at lower left. There's a lot of text in Latin at bottom, and a close look reveals the names of the two above artists...

Johannes Wierix, Flemish, 1549-1618, "The Betrayal of Christ, Agony in the Garden". This is a rare early engraving by Johannes Wierix after Pieter van der Borcht, printed with an image on both sides of the sheet. Each image measures 4 1/2 x 2 7/ 8 inches, 1583, a good impression on a very early laid type paper, published by 16th century book printer and publisher Christophe Plantin. One side of the sheet shows the 'Betrayal of Christ', the other 'Agony in the Garden'.

A beautiful English Seventeenth Century Etching “Townscape” Framed 12” x 17”

Notice the details of the honeysuckle flower design on the armour. Please refer to the flemish painting in our listing. The honeysuckle design on the middle right side of the photo matches the same design in 17 flemish paintings.

A fine 17th century Dutch landscape by Solomon Van Ruisdael oil on oak panel 19 x 25.5 inches signed lower right. The scene is from a area near old Haarlem where he often painted pictured is a ferryboat in the distance and an angler and woman by a cottage in the foreground. An exquisite old master painting. Biography, (1600/03-1670) Salomon van Ruysdael was called De Goyer until he and his brother Isaack changed their name to Ruysdael, after the castle near their father's birthplace, Blaricum...

Very rare stucco stele - cornice depicting praying thepanom angel on both sides, surrounded by flame motif. circa 17th Century, Thailand. This item has been nicely mounted on a black Museum Stand. A PAIR of old engravings from the Passion of Christ series of 14, engraved originally in 1521 by Dutch old master engraver LUCAS VAN LEYDEN (1494-1533). My research leads me to believe these two are apparently later impressions printed on wove rather than laid paper, by noted Flemish engraver Jan Harmansz Muller (1571-1628). (Wove, as opposed to "laid" paper, was not invented until the mid 18th century). The talented Muller made skilled and faithful copies after earlier artists' works...

This is an antique Corpus Christi "Cristo Morto" from the late 16th century Renaissance period. It was made after a model by Guglielmo Della Porta.

The sculpture is of excellent quality fire-gilded bronze, finely cast with a hollow back and pierced with nail holes, then hand-finished with an artist's tools and gilded.
