Watercolor on paper painting of a lone figure in a clearing surrounded by summer trees, unframed, 9 1/4" by 14", signed at lower left "S.J YARD. 97. JUNE." This is an eastern-looking work though the subject is almost certainly somewhere in Northern California. Yard was born in Rockford, Illinois where he was able to become introduced to art. Still young, after further art study in New York, he moved to London, coming under the tutelage of Royal Academician Sutton Palmer...

Floral Print Framed

A scarce watercolor work of Southern art, the subject a street scene with traditional historic architecture including a church, two tiny figures and a tree, measuring inside the wood frame 9 3/4" by 7 3/4" (14 3/4" by 13" framed). The scene could be New Orleans or Charleston, South Carolina; I found the work in western Virginia. There is a signature at lower right but all attempts to read it have failed, though, it does appear that the date 1905 is at lower right...

An unframed oil on canvas painting of a dreamy waterfall, the deep and mysterious gorge featuring palm trees and at left a small flower-bedecked modest home, the 24" by 18" work signed at lower right "Carolyn". Condition is excellent, the work needing only a frame. The rendering of the palms reminds a bit of the way Filipino artist Romeo Tabuena painted such scenes.

"Martha's Vinyard" Watercolor on paper, 26.5" x 21.5" framed Julius Delbos was born in London England in 1879. He was a lecturer, painter, watercolorist, engraver and teacher. He eventually moved to the United States becoming a member of the American Water Color Society, New York Water Club, American Artists Professional League, National Arts Club, Society of Graphic Arts and the Century Club. He eventually came to exhibit at the Corcoran Gallery, Washington D.C...
