A very nicely done naive watercolor of a gentleman, housed in its original embossed brass frame. The painting has had no restoration and has no tears or losses. sight size is 2 1/4" by 1 3/4", and the framed size is 3 3/4" by 3 1/8".

FLYING BIRD WITH WHEEL

Old Japanese mechanical toy as amateur wooden handicraft from Showa period, 20th century. When wheeled back and forward tightly, head shaking and wings flapping but as barely and awkwardly and just lovely. (So, more like a decorative object than practical movable toy, please.) approx. W 27.5 x D 18 x H 19cm (10.82 x 7.08 x 7.48in)...

Large limited-edition Japanese woodblock print by Joshua Rome (b. 1953) titled “Inawara” dated 12/20/1982. The bottom margin is titled, dated, numbered 28/100 and signed in pencil. The artist's red seal is beside the signature. Paper: 18 1/8" x 25" (image: 15 1/2” x 21 5/8"). Very good overall condition. The print is very lightly sunstruck. The bottom margin corners are a little wrinkled and the paper at the back upper edge is slightly distressed from tape removal.

Italian artist Duilio Barnabé (1914-1961). Oil on canvas in beautiful silver leafed frame. 21cm h by 28cm w. (8.6" by 11.2").

An impressively large color print of the year 1977, titled appropriately "Boat", pencil signed at lower right and dated there, and numbered 23/150 at lower left, by the noted, Japanese-born artist KENZO OKADA (1902-1982). The print, 27 1/2" by 34" inside the mat (36" by 42" in attractive and complementary quality silvery frame) is decidedly modern but the imagery has its root in Asian and specifically Japanese art. Okada was born in Yokohama to a privileged background...

This is a difficult to describe painting----we see a beach on a summer's day, the blue sea beyond; budding clouds, a spiky yucca at left, and what look at first like children's sandbox toys in the sand, until it appears that maybe they're not children's sandbox toys. The "tower" at right looks more like a Greek islands windmill, the "sail" a takeoff from the yucca. There's also a starfish, a bucket, a brightly colored striped beach ball--and a difficult to make out signature...

Gottlob Briem 1899-1972 American This is an original drypoint etching by American artist Gottlob L. Briem. The title of this work was : Base of the Chrysler Building, New York, It was created and printed circa 1930, pencil signed and titled in the lower border, the image measures 14 5/8X10 3/16 inches. Printed on a medium weight wove type paper.

Notre Dame watercolor 16 x 13". Frame Size 24 x 21". Parisian Artist

A pleasant watercolor painting of a working windmill in an extensive landscape, the sheet 9 3/4" by 13 1/4", currently loose under a mat, no frame, signed at lower left by listed English artist ALFRED WILLIAM RICH (1856-1921). Other than normal age toning of the paper, there are several spots of foxing, a missing extreme upper right corner, which is easily hidden by the mat, and reverse browning from residue of varnish or old adhesive...

Watercolor on paper, 10" by 8" (16" by 13 3/4" in a contemporary gold frame), the subject a white house looming above a country lane on which a horse-drawn carriage moves at left. The scene is obviously in the tropics or sub-tropics, there being palms and other exotic vegetation. It could be Bermuda, or, perhaps, somewhere in the Caribbean basin. The work is signed in pencil at lower right "J. Pittaway" and "'24 & '25" is adjacent...

Haku Maki was a major creative Japanese print maker of the second half of the 20th century. His major output from 1965 to 1990 consisted to several different themes of prints Kanji was the main theme for the first 15 years of that period. Then. Ceramics was second. But he also did a large number of prints with persimmon on theme. Most of the persimmon prints showed just one fruit. A few showed two Only two showed 3. These are shown here Both prints are serene no jarring colors or edges...

Vintage oil on canvas impressionist landscape with rounded low mountains, a country road passing red barns, 25" by 30" (29 1/2" by 34 1/2" framed), signed at lower right corner with what appears as "D Tutis" or "D Totis" or similar. Although the work resembles that of Vermont painter Earl A. Titus (1895-1962), the signature does not correspond with how he signed. So we have a mystery work here...

A group of THREE 19th century English botanical prints, two framed identically in gold with closed corners, the third framed in a different gold frame with beading. The matching pair measure 19 1/2" by 17 1/2" in the frames; the final piece slightly smaller at 19" by 16". The print in that latter piece, by artist Fitch, has horizontal creases, one sharp; the year "1846" is written in pencil at bottom edge...

Lovis Corinth, German, 1858-1925, "Dame im Gartenstuhl," Etching and drypoint, early proof of this rare image, image size 7 7/8 x 11 7/8 inches, 1911, cat: Schwartz-76, inscribed "probedruck" (test print) l.l. and signed l.r. both in red crayon, blindstamp l.l. just below image. Corinth began his art career studying at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich and went on to study under Bouguereau at the Academie Julian in Paris...
