Original etching LA REVUE (The Review) by Jacques Callot printed in 1627, second state of two, Lieure catalog number 592. The print was done just before Callot started working on a huge print “Le Siege de Breda” and must have been done for better understanding of military formations. A watercolor painting of a steep hillside with trees, several structures filling the lower portion of the composition, unsigned, 13 1/2" by 10 1/2" (24 3/4" by 20 1/2" in the dark simulated wood framing. The painting does have some age and would likely be by a listed artist. Mat got wet at some point at bottom and will need to be replaced. Art itself is in excellent condition, the colors fresh...
A striking watercolor and gouache painting of a black cat lounging amidst lily family garden flowers, 8 1/2" by 13 1/4" (18" by 22" as framed), signed at lower left by the noted New Mexico-associated artist AGNES GABRIELLE TAIT (1894-1981). Oil on canvas, 20" by 16" and simple wood frame 1 3/4" wide, signed at lower left in capital letters by the artist, ARTHUR CARL WEIGLE, and dated there "30". This is a charming scene of an earlier California, the iconic subject being the 18th century Mission Santa Barbara. Note the figure curled up on the steps, the leaning palm, and the beautifully painted eucalyptus leaves. The overall light palette reminds one of C. W. Nicholson's works or possibly Dana Bartlett...
An extensive landscape with picturesque castle ruins at left on a leafy Arcadian glen overlooking a lake and distant mountains, unsigned, 16" by 24" (25" by 32 1/2" in wide gold frame), presenting at first a Hudson River School appearance, but perhaps more likely by an English or Scottish artist, or by a period American artist imitating an English style and scenery. Jasper Francis Cropsey painted similarly (but I am not suggesting that this is his work)...
Oil on canvas, 20" by 30", 27" by 37" as framed, apparently unsigned, the scene of (possibly) gypsies or other peasant folk in the splendid countryside, with their animals, wagons and household goods. In the far distance at left there is a view with another small wagon and house...
Oil on canvas painting by Haitian artist J.B. Gaston, 12 1/2" by 16", unframed, the subject a colorful tropical village among palms, numerous figures going about their regular activities. This work is squarely within the classic style of art we have come to expect from Haiti. It is not an old work but continues a tradition of Haitian art going back to the 1940's. Excellent condition. Will brighten any interior.

Circa 1970 oil on canvas, 16" by 12" (20 1/2" by 16 1/4" framed), signed at lower left "Joyce". The scene with yellow roses and oriental ceramic figure takes after artists such as Hovsep Pushman and others who in the first half of the 20th century favored such props in their still life works. This is evenly soiled, with some browned varnish too. Otherwise condition is good. The white frame shows some wear.
Introduction: Beatrice d'Este (June 29, 1475 - January 2, 1497) belongs to the best class of Renaissance women, and was one of the culture influences of the
age; to a great extent, her patronage and good taste are responsible for the splendour of the Castello of Milan, the Certosa of Pavia, and many other
famous buildings in Lombardy. A fresco with her portrait faces da Vinci's Last Supper in the refectory of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan. She is a
central character in E. L. Konigsburg...
