John Gannam was an illustrator and painter who worked almost exclusively in watercolor. Gannam was born in the country of Lebanon and grew up in Chicago. He was forced to leave school and work at age 14 due to his father’s death. He went through a succession of menial jobs until he eventually became a messenger boy in an engraving house. This Abstract Expressionist painting dates to 1957, and it has a partial signature on the lower left corner. It measures 38" x 28" and has a small amount of paint loss. Notice the bright and unique colors and with heavy inpasto brushwork. On 5/3/04, I presented this painting to the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation for review where I had a brief meeting with the assistant director. The painting was not confirmed, however, the painting will remain under review and evaluation...

Roudebush was born in Portland, Oregon and moved to Sacramento as a youth. Oil on board painting of waves at a rocky coastline, unframed, 15 3/4" by 20", likely by a listed artist but unsigned. The work was executed sometime around 1950 I would surmise. Condition is good and this should fit nicely into an easy-to-find standard size 16" by 20" frame.

A vintage study in charcoal of an infant on its back, 12" by 15" (16" by 19" framed), signed at lower right with what appears as "H Collins", and dated adjacent Sept. 14, 1953. I do not see a listed name that would correspond with this name or variants of it. The study is artistic, reminiscent of timeless Italian Renaissance drawings. There is age toning of the paper and some lighter, whitish areas at lower left, above the infant's left arm, and at lower right.

This is an original charcoal on paper portrait drawing of a young woman, 18" by 12 1/2" inside the mat (25" by 19" as framed), signed "J Floch" at lower right.
