This is a charcoal with white highlights fine original drawing of a male head on a plinth, the head appearing as would a Greek or Roman marble sculpture. The work, 16 1/4" by 12" (22" by 18" framed), is signed at bottom by the Austrian artist RUDOLF ZELENKA (1875-1938) and is dated nearby 1894. The drawing would likely be an academic study by the artist at age 19, while receiving art education...

Original Japanese woodblock print by 20th century master Jun'Ichiro Sekino (1914-1988) circa 1950s. Unusual column format (roughly 28" by 10" paper, 21" by 5" image), extremely unusual subject, signed "J. Sekino" in pencil lower right and numbered 67/100 lower left. In its original frame, not examined out of the frame but apparently in excellent condition. Sekino's woodblocks are found in the collections of most important art museums, including MOMA and the Art Institute of Chicago.

An example of the large color lithograph print "Winter Harvest", published 1981 in an edition of 950 examples, pencil signed at lower right margin by the noted Alaskan artist FRED MACHETANZ (1908-2002). This example is numbered 803/950. The supremely patient, stoic Eskimo woman stands above a hole in the ice, and the fish haul is laid out on that ice. The print measures 20 1/2" by 32" inside the mat (one of the artist's larger prints) and 30" by 41" as framed...

Offered together as a pair are TWO limited edition lithographs on paper, each 28 7/8" by 22 1/2", unframed, by a master artist. One, an image of a rock strewn hillside, is numbered at lower left 38/65; the other image, a sketchy portrait of a man, possibly a self portrait, is numbered 42/50...

A nice 19th century Mexican folk retablo on tin depicting San José. In his role as the husband and protector of the Virgin Mary, Saint Joseph became one of the more popular retablo subjects, representing an estimated 7% of 19th century pieces. According to the Apocrypha, Mary’s suitors left their staffs in the courtyard of her home overnight, and by the next morning, Joseph’s has sprouted blossoms, indicating he was God’s choice as her husband...

A Hand Colored Botanical Print Portraying Four Varieties of Watsonia. The Artist is the Victorian Jane Webb Loudon (1807-1858), and the Print is from the book “The Ladies Flower Garden of Ornamental Bulbous Plants” (plate 9), published in 1841 by Day and Haghe London, Lithographer to Queen Victoria. The print is triple matted and elegantly framed. Dimensions; 19.5" x 18". Excellent condition. See also item number 601990 (1542A).

Oil on canvas painting of a tabletop with flowers in vase and assorted decorative objects, 20" by 24" (26" by 20 1/2" framed), signed at lower left by artist HAZEL PETRA FETTERLEY BOEHME (1900-1941). On the reverse of the canvas the artist has written the title "Mid-Victorian", the date (May 1932), her name, Los Angeles, Cal., and original price of $75 or possibly $175 (appears she went over the numbers----maybe in difficult Depression times she had second thoughts on pricing)...

Plate signed etching, 13" by 10 1/4" inside the mat, the sheet 16" by 13 3/4", titled "Rue de la Glaciere", 1937, by the famous and important French modern artist MAURICE de VLAMINCK (1876-1958). The original edition is given as 400 or 500 examples; later restrikes might exist. I do not know if this might be one of them. The paper is very thin and delicate and appears ribbed as would laid style paper. I do not see any watermarks...

A fine, highly finished and detailed watercolor painting of a seated lady on a patio, her large lute at her side. The setting is possibly a castle, as a tower in the background suggests. The artist signed at lower right and dated the work 1875. It measures 13 1/2" by 9 1/4" (16 1/2" by 12 1/4" in its attractive circa 1930's framing (note the old Jordan Marsh department store label from Boston on reverse--could have been purchased or framed there).
