An American oil on panel painting, unsigned, likely circa 1920, unframed, featuring a landscape including a lake, some distant low mountains, and yellowing foliage in foreground suggesting autumn as the season. The piece measures 14" by 22". Surface is dirty---could really use a cleaning/varnish---and there is paint chipping along left, top, and bottom edges, as well as a small loss at left center in the foliage. Needs some TLC but the essentials are all there...

Watercolor painting on paper, 29 1/2" by 21 1/2", (37 1/2" by 29 1/2" framed behind Plexi, in simple gold metal framing), signed at lower right "Julia R. Ayres" (and copyright symbol and 1985 date). The subject is the world famous Grand Canyon in Arizona. Ayres might be a listed artist, there being another Julia Ayres on google known as an artist, but further research should be conducted to see if there might be a relationship...

For the collector of wildlife and sporting art, here is a large (19" by 33 1/2" inside the mat), offered UNFRAMED*** pencil signed print, by renowned wildlife artist DAVID SHEPHERD (1931-2017), the oils of whom have sold for over $100,000 at Sotheby's auctions. This print is not numbered as in a limited edition, though obviously the artist hand signed a limited number. The painting from which it was made is dated 1979 and is titled "Three Happy Jumbos"...

An etching with extensive watercolor depicting two arches of an old bridge with a house built on the pier between the arches, two men in red coats and a dog on the bank below the bridge and lane with trees and houses on the right. Titled along the lower margin to the left, “Part of the Old Bridge east Shrewsbury.” It is unsigned, but part of the old mount that is saved in a folder on the back of the present mount states that it is by Paul Sandby (British 1725-1809)...

Pastel Painting on Paper in Frame, 22 1/2" x 16" (frame size), 17 1/2" x 10 1/2"(Painting size), snow capped high mountain and some Castle ruins in the background, beautiful Castle complex can be excessed from the land, and sailing boat in the lake, such beautiful peaceful surroundings. Frame and mat is around 1970's, the painting is older, no damages for the painting and frame. Belongs to private collection in DC area.

Oil on board still life of red roses, and a few bumble bees in the composition as well, 24 1/4" by 18 1/2", 31 1/4" by 24 3/4" in likely original old gold frame, signed at lower left "N. Miller" and dated there 1910 or possibly 1916. This was executed in the early 20th century, but takes from a nineteenth century tradition in Victorian times----painting roses...

Etching titled "THE GREEN SHUTTER NEW ORLEANS", signed with initials in the plate and in pencil by the artist in margin, the sheet 9 7/8" by 7 3/4", framed as found in narrow black strip frame of the period. Buell was a noted woman etcher, active from the 1920's through the late 1950's. Born in Illinois, she received some art training at Oberlin College in Ohio, and further study at the Art Students League in New York and with famed etcher Martin Lewis...

An old watercolor of a street scene in Alsace (the portion of eastern France that borders Germany), featuring a well for water and a half timbered house wall, along with a pretty window with flowers in pots. The artist, AMELIE FOLEY-RISLER (1870-1947) signed at bottom left and the town is identified there as Niedermorschwihr, Alsace. The unframed watercolor, 14 3/4" by 11", is in excellent condition...

Modernist still life of wine bottle, coffee pot, pan, flagon and other objects on a table top, arranged artistically and painted with a cubist feeling, unsigned, framed in strip framing, no glass, circa mid 20th century. If you admire Cezanne but can't quite afford one of his masterpieces, this might just be for you. The artist is unidentified but likely created this in the middle years of the century...

An original turn of the century print, apparently from a publication of the era, featuring a cabman and an elegantly dressed woman walking away, signed at lower left corner by the noted Spanish artist FRANCISCO XAVIER (JAVIER) GOSE (1876-1915). This original lithograph is not behind glass and is loose in the current framing. The measurement of the sheet is approximately 12" by 9" (19" by 17" in the framing). There is a tear at top as shown, and a slight crease at right...

Drawing, I believe in charcoal, 12 3/4" by 18 1/2" inside the matting, framed, but no glass, signed at lower left "M. Moss" and dated "March '93", the subject a large wooden house on a lake surrounded by mountains, small boats tied up in front. I think this is American but I suppose it could also be English; I'm undecided..........though, the framing suggests would make me lean towards American, as the reverse was backed by the typically American wood slats with knotholes...

Old circa 1940's chalk portrait drawing of a young woman with red hair and striking light eyes, 22" by 16" (27" by 20 1/2" framed in green metal strip frame), apparently unsigned. This is one of several drawings I encountered by (I believe) the same artist. Two other drawings were signed, but illegibly, so the identity of the artist is a mystery. I think the paper might have been rolled at one time as under certain raking light conditions one can see soft horizontal, roughly parallel creases....

Etching or aquatint in colors, 18 1/2" by 23" (28" by 31 1/2" as framed), titled at lower left margin "Les Vieux (???)" and signed at lower right margin by the noted French artist PAUL EMAIL LECOMTE (1877-1950). Lecomte was born to an artist father and an art-nourishing environment. After attending the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and study under Fernande Cormon, he went to work for the government. While in his 20's he began to exhibit annually at the Salon des Artistes Francais, where he won medals ...

This is a fine wood engraving from the end of the 1920's by well listed American printmaker LYND WARD (1905-1985). The work is from the 1929 woodcut novel "God's Man" by Ward. Measuring 6 3/8" by 4 1/2" inside the mat (13 1/2" by 11 1/2" as framed) this print is by an artist well recognized today especially for his achievements in the graphic arts and illustration art. He was an associate of the National Academy, and examples by his hand grace the collections of the Library of Congress and mus...
