Claude Grosperrin (1939-1977) was a French Impressionist who painted during the middle of the 20th century. His interest in lithography began during his studies at Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in the atelier of Brianchon. There he developed a love of the process, and soon his work caught on in local galleries. After some one-man exhibits in London and New York, Grosperrin received international attention...

A lovely ink and watercolor drawing, 10" by 13" (22" by 28" framed), featuring two elegantly dressed early 20th century women strolling in a park-like setting, as a gentleman on horseback passes by headed in the other direction. The work is signed at lower left by LUDOVIC-RODO PISSARRO (1878-1952), one of four sons of famous French impressionist artist Camille Pissarro. A vintage (mid century) watercolor painting of a very old stone church in Central America or Mexico, signed at lower left "Gil". The work is very nicely painted by an obviously talented watercolorist. Note the tiny figures in the composition, and the bright spots of color contrasting with the creamy stone of this circa sixteenth or seventeenth century church. Most likely this would be in Guatemala or one of the nearby countries, or in southern Mexico...

Large oil on high quality canvas painting, 38" by 48", not signed on front but on reverse on stretcher is written "B Ingram", probably executed in the 1960's or early 1970's. The artist clearly had a knowledge of the surrealist works of the important Chilean modern artist Roberto Echaurren Matta, whose major oils greatly resemble the image in this painting. The more one looks at this work the more complexity, movement and three dimensional depth one sees. Condition is excellent...

Oil on canvas laid on board, 21" by 34" (26" by 39" as framed), unsigned, circa 1880 I would guess, the painting consisting of a classic Hudson River view with steep hills bordering a river, a boat completing the scenery. There is a very nice luminosity to this particular example, a very nice handling of the light in the leaves of the trees. The painting has an approximately 5" long horizontal old cut in lower portion as shown, not unusual for a work of this age...
