A view of Ely Cathedral in eastern England, signed at lower right by listed contemporary British artist KENNETH W. BURTON (1946-), the work painted skillfully in gouache and measuring 9" by 13" (18 1/2" by 22 3/4" in whitish wood frame). Condition of painting and frame excellent. Burton was born in Lincolnshire and has painted widely throughout the United Kingdom, seeking out a wide range of landscape subject matter. A fine example of the Drypoint work of French artist Jacques VIllon. The title of this work is :"L'Epingle A Chapeau", the hat pin. This image was created and printed in 1909. The image is editioned lower left as 12/20. A rare image. The drypoint measures 15X12 inches, printed on a medium weight, watermarked, laid type paper. very fine condition, a rich impression showing a velvet burr of ink throughout the figure. This drypoint is clearly signed in pencil by the artist lower right border.

A very well executed miniature portrait painting of a gentleman, watercolor on natural organic material, by Edward Nash. The leather travel case states that the miniature was owned by Mrs. Thos. Higham. The miniature is in wonderful condition, but lacks an inner case to the travel case. The size is 2 13/16" by 2 5/16".

NOTE: Edward Nash (1778-1821), reportedly a hunchback, exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1800 to 1820...

Small contemporary unframed painting, 10" by 8", signed at lower right "Harper", of a classic old late Victorian gingerbread house, complete with the turret rooms and wraparound porch that was so common in homes built during that period. It would have been nice had the artist identified the address, but that was not to be. The work is in excellent condition.

Oil on canvasboard painting of a greatly simplified vase with flowers, unframed, 16" by 12", signed at lower right "Dieter" and bearing on the reverse the title "Spring Bouquet" and "W. D. ZANDER/25 EAST END AVE/N.Y N.Y 10028". This is a work, possibly circa 1970's or 1980's, by a long-lived gentleman with an extraordinary life history, who happens also to have been a very talented artist. Zander was born in Germany in 1915, and educated in Neuchatel, Switzerland...

This was acquired from a local family who related that it was painted in Germany by their relative. The work is nicely painted by an obviously talented hand. Condition is very good. Frame is wood.

A very beautiful, elegant landscape painting of a somber, late autumn day in the Northeast, probably Connecticut, 14" by 26" (19 1/2" by 31 1/2" framed), signed at lower left by the quite well regarded American artist WILLIAM MERRITT POST (1856-1935). The scene is of a small brook running in a boggy meadow area, scattered trees either bare of their leaves or about to lose them in the growing autumn chill. Colors used are somber and respectful of the season portrayed...

Watercolor on paper, 13" by 21 1/2" inside the original gold over mat, 20 1/2" by 29" in its original goldish frame (no glass), apparently unsigned, the subject the dramatic waterfalls of the tropics----Iguassu Falls on the Brazil/Argentina border, perhaps, or Victoria Falls in central Africa. Unfortunately there is no title or location given, though these would be good guesses...
