Sir Francis Seymour Haden 1818-1910 British This is an original pencil signed mezzotint by British artist Sir Francis Seymour Haden. The title is: Breaking up of the Agamemnon No. II. This mezzotint was created in 1880, one of his most popular images, like the earlier etched impression done 10 years earlier in just etched lines. This image is made up of tone as well as lines in the composition.....

Signed Japanese Meiji Bronze Hawk Okimono on Rockery base, highest quality sculpting with details to every feather . The hawk is holding down another bird and 2 of its feathers lay on the base stand of the sculpture. The hawk was sculpted separately from the rockery and it was completely hand worked and then applied to the main sculpture...

Unframed oil on canvas painting of young faces, signed at lower right by artist "S. Lewis". The work measures 14" by 11". It may date to circa 1980 to 2000. Other than minor edge losses at top from frame abrasion, condition is very good, though the surface is not varnished.

This pencil/watercolor drawing on heavy paper, 34 1/2" by 24 1/2" is actually signed by the artist, one "Sil Marraccini" at lower right and is dated 2/11/39. Originally intended as architectural plans, it would today easily qualify as a late Deco/early mid century art work on its own accord. I believe I acquired this in the San Francisco area, where Bank of America began. No doubt this was a plan for the interior details and exterior elevation of a branch of the bank...

A circa 1920 oil on canvas of apples and sprigs of blossoms on a tabletop, 18" by 27 1/2" (26" by 36" in original frame), signed at right center "A. Landsberger" (or, many variations thereof could be possible). The signature, in red in old Germanic hand, is on top of an apparently older, incised signature that is quite different (and, very difficult to make out). The work is very nicely executed by a trained hand, and is in excellent antique condition, with no tears or flaking...

The title of this work is: Spring in the Poconos, it was created and printed in 1938 in an edition of 100. Done for the Buck Hill Falls Art Association. The image measures 6 1/2X8 1/8 inches. Hand signed and dated in pencil in the lower border.

A striking modern watercolor and ink drawing signed at lower right in Hebrew by listed Israeli artist HANA LEVI (1914-2002). The work, 19" by 27" (27" by 34 1/2" framed) is elegant, with subdued color palette consisting of black, gray, conservative brown and light green. The artist is listed, and works are offered at auction, many closely resembling this one; though, there seems to be some confusion in the marketplace...

Jacques James Joseph Tissot 1836-1902 French This is a fine original etching by French artist James Tissot. The title is: Reverie, it was created and printed in 1880 in an edition of 100. The image measures 9X 4 7/16 inches. The image is plate signed and dated upper right corner of the image, printed on a medium weight laid type paper. A very rich impression, nicely framed. This image appears in the Wentworth catalog as image number 52.

Woodblock print by Earl M. Washington, page measures 11" x 8 3/8", woodblock image is 6 1/4" x 5", mat is 13 1/2" x 11". Black ink on cream color paper, in white mats with glassine cover over image. Signed E.M. Washington, titled "Race Mixing", number 2 of 30, with date of 1932, though was printed in the 1990's. Image depicts a violent scene, a black man attacking a nude woman, with knife in his hand. Maybe an image of a racist propaganda poster or leaflet, or an original by Washington...

A colorful lithograph by the famous Spanish artist JOAN MIRO (1893-1983), pencil numbered at lower left 77/375 in European-looking writing with horizontal cross of the "7"s. On the backing is an old label of Jamin Editions of Van Nuys, California, who may have issued this print. Dimensions inside the mat are 25 1/2" by 19 1/2" (32 1/2" by 26 3/4" in brushed aluminum metal frame). The image was created for the 1970 Sala Pelaires exhibition, Palma de Mallorca...

An extensive country landscape featuring rolling fields and meadows, the evidence of man including a dirt road, fence posts, and distant house, as chickens forage at center right. The oil on canvas, 22" by 25" work (27" by 30 1/2" framed) is signed at lower left by listed German artist OTTO MARX (1887-1962). There is not a lot of information on the artist but he did produce nicely painted impressionist works of the German countryside. Marx signed his name and dated the painting 1912...

Max Kassler, American 1905–1992 was an abstract Artist known for some of the most unusual experimental work based on the human figure He was an early student of the Picasso school of painting. This work culminated his idea of abstraction in space. This is part of the collection we have at the gallery. Automatic drawing was pioneered by the English artist Austin Osman Spare who wrote a chapter, Automatic Drawing as a Means to Art, in his book, The Book of Pleasure (1913)...

Oil on thin canvas painting of a classic American Indian with chief's feather headdress, executed in a charmingly naive style by an amateur artist around the year 1960 I would guess. The work measures 17" by 14" in its oak simple sturdy frame. When purchased it was behind broken glass, so has survived in excellent, clean condition.
