Original signed poster for the Whitney Museum showing of "For Example", a 1972 movie by Shusaku Arakawa (1936-2010), from the Mechanism of Meaning project by Arakawa and Madeline Gins. This framed poster is in excellent framed condition and is signed in pencil lower right by both artists. We also have an original mixed media painting by Arakawa available, from the early sixties. Both pieces come from the same New York estate.

The painting is signed at lower right by the Who Was Who in American Art-listed JOSEPH LANE (1900-), an artist and muralist who trained at the Art Institute of Chicago...

A small landscape painting on canvas, (actually a very nice size for a small wall, 12" by 16", and 15" by 19" framed), signed at lower right by listed artist ANTON GUTKNECHT (1907-1988). We see a dirt road winding around the edge of a wooded area, a European village and small church seen in the far distance. Gutknecht was born in Dusseldorf and studied art in that German city, as well as Munich and Hamburg. For a time he taught at the Royal Academy in Vienna...

Oil on tin sheet painting of a man in cowboy hat, titled on reverse backing "The Old Hat", 16" by 12" (22 1/2" by 18 3/4" framed), signed at lower right and again on the backing, by the well known artist of the American Southwest, RAMON KELLEY (born 1939). This is a sensitively painted work of a subject obviously very familiar to the artist. Kelley studied on a scholarship at the Colorado Institute of Art in Denver, where he counted the artist Charlie Dye among his instructors...

After a watercolor drawing by the iconic, famous French modern artist PAUL CEZANNE (1839-1906) is this print best described as a pochoir, titled "La Cruche Verte", ("The Green Jug"), numbered at lower left 128/225. The print is affixed to a board on which the numeration is written in pencil...

Gouache on black paper, 11" by 17" (17 1/2" by 23 1/2" as framed), the subject a child-like angel in a nighttime winter landscape of fantasy, carrying a star staff, a doe like Bambi walking beside her. This was not easy to describe; best to just view the images! It is signed at lower right by artist HILDA GENTRY. I do not currently see a listing for this name, but do recall having seen something on the net about her at some time in the past...

Alexander Ney Russian American sculptor " Brown clay standing Nude"early 1970s figure in a modern style. 1 hole at top for mounting , this piece is unsigned and we have listed an image included in this listing showing the same figure in sterling silver clad that is also unsigned this piece is for reference only size 3.25" by just under 1" . This is from a very rare group of early miniature pieces most all were initialed in this way...

A large oil mixed with sand painting on canvas, signed on reverse by artist "Durrant", titled there "Rombosity" and dated there 1965. This is an unusually large work by the noted English modernist artist ROY TURNER DURRANT (1925-1998), works of whom sell with some regularity in the United Kingdom. Paint is very thickly applied and is wrinkled in some areas. The work measures an impressive 46" by 33 1/4"...

This note concerns Poem 70-38, a rarely seen Big Red. NOTE: Daniel Tretiak created the term Big Reds for Haku Maki's large works centered on large kanji in red, usually on a black background and often done in broad strokes. Large ones in blue or yellow or green came to be termed Big Blues, Big Yellows, Big Greens, and so forth.

Original drawing in sanguine pencil and watercolor, 16" by 11 1/2" (25 1/2" by 18" framed), the subject traditional shoes, a ceramic pot, and textile, signed at lower right by Hopi artist S. POLELONEMA. This would have been created in the Four Corners region, the name being somewhat common among the peoples of the area in Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico particularly. An Otis Polelonema is a well known Native American artist, though I don't know if the present artist might be a relative...

Female nude figure executed in white chalk on black paper, 25" by 18 3/4", signed at lower right "Mondrus", unframed. The artist is associated with California, having been a familiar figure in the Los Angeles/Pasadena art scene for many years. He is still active as a teacher and juror of art competitions. Mondrus is Professor of Art Emeritus at Glendale Community College. His oeuvre includes oils, prints, drawings, and fresco...

A good-sized watercolor (30 1/2" by 22 1/2", and 37 1/2" by 29 1/2" in present framing without glass), the subject New Mexico adobes in a late autumn landscape, the trees in flaming yellows, backed by surrounding mountains. In the foreground is a small body of water providing a deep blue color to set off the yellow. The work is signed at lower left "J. Van Sant". I have been unable to locate a known artist by this name...

A pencil signed limited edition color print "We The People 1787", featuring Ben Franklin at printing press with assistants, evidently producing copies of the Constitution for distribution in the colonies.
