Here's an unusual item, a painting on white milk glass, in oil, measuring 5 1/2" by 7 1/2" and 8" by 10" as framed. The somewhat folk art feeling work is not signed. I would judge the age as anywhere from about 1880 to about 1920----a nautical type could probably date this more accurately by noting in which decade such a ship would have existed. Condition is good with minor paint losses from scratches and aging. However the small losses are not really noticeable at normal viewing distance...

From a set of lithographs, Paris Dans sa Splenour, published in 1861, titled, “LE NOUVEAU LOUVRE/Vue prise du Palais Tuileries.” The printer and lithographer are shown in details of the lower left and right corners. The image without printing is 9 7/8 by 14 ½ inches (25 x 27 cm), the page 13 ¼ by 19 ¼ inches (34 x 49 cm).

Condition; some rubbing to the surface and some of what look to be ink spots...

Original ink drawing on brown paper circa 1921 by Isidor Ascheim (German-born Israeli artist, 1891-1968). Well framed. Signed l.r. Also identified by two labels from Denenberg Fine Art, Boston, verso. 17" by 13" work alone, 20" by 16" in frame. Isidor Ascheim is an important Israeli artist who studied in Breslau with Otto Mueller and Fryederyk Pautsch. He emigrated to Israel in 1939. His works are in the collections of a number of museums.

Maria Ada Gianni 1873-1956 Italian This is a fine original gouache painting by Italian artist Maria Gianni. The scene is the Bay of Naples with Mt Vesuvius in the background. The painting is signed lower left. The image measures 5X12 1/2 inches and came to us in what appears to be the original early frame which measures 8X16 inches.

Large oil on canvas, 30" by 40", unframed, signed at lower left by the artist and dated there "30", the subject a snowy, rugged mountain range with autumnal colors and evergreens, a small lake in the middle ground. The artist, RICHARD DEY DE RIBCOWSKY (1880-1936) was a prolific painter, and a well traveled one, at that. For his time he was truly an adventurous traveler. Born in Bulgaria, he was in Paris by age 13, and Florence and St. Petersburg after that...

A lithograph or photo-lithograph of a poster of 1953 for the Galerie des Ponchettes, Nice, exhibition "Le Livre Italien Contemporain". I am not clear if this was an exhibition of Chagall works, or an exhibit of Italian books and how they may have been illustrated at that time, perhaps by figures like Chagall. I have seen online that this print may actually date to 1966, printed by a James K. Foster after the original 1953 image...

Oil on masonite, 18" by 14" (22" by 18" in its wood frame), the subject the familiar streets of the French Quarter, this being a view of Pirate's Alley, from Jackson Square, facing Royal Street, signed at lower right "Weller". I take from the website of the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts: "Dell Weller studied four years at the Art Students League in New York. Acrylic on canvas contemporary painting of palms, depicted in yellow, pinkish-red and greenish-blue against an electric blue background, 18" by 24", unframed, signed at lower right by the artist, Shannon Casey. This is a nicely decorative, breezy work that will surely add a touch of the tropics to your interior. There are a very few minor spots of soiling or abrasion that hardly detract from the overall effect.

Attractive, nicely worked pastel landscape of California in the fall, 14" by 17 3/4" (24" by 27 1/2" presently in gold metal frame), signed at lower left "Dorothy Dennison" and dated there 1962. The piece is very clean and fresh. The artist was obviously a skilled practitioner when it came to this difficult to master medium.
