Nice vintage embossed Halloween post card showing a boy carrying a black cat past a glowing jack-o'lantern. The illustration is unsigned, but looks like the work of Ellen Clapsaddle. Rare and early vintage albumen print of the Shimbashi Railway Station in Tokyo, with festive decoration and banners wearing the imperial seal "kiku-mon". The Tokyo to Yokohama rail line opened on 14th October 1872, with a great ceremony as the emperor took the first official ride, arriving at Shimbashi Station in a Western carriage. Mounted on coeval cardboard. Condition: fine, minimally faded, a tiny hole. Dimension: photo: 20.1 cm x 25.9 cm, cardboard: 34.8 cm x 43.8 cm.
