Underneath both in pen is the notation, “Sandhurst 1877,” this refers to the Royal Military College at Sandhurst. The polo players is 8 ¼ x 10 ½ inches and the Cricket players 8 3/8 x 10 ¾ inches...

An albumen photograph of Cairo titled on the mat, “CAIRO, FORM THE CITADEL,WITH THE MOSQUE OF SULTAN HASSAN.” Also in smaller type the number648. An excellent print with good tones. 5 7/8 by 8 1/8 inches (15 by20.5cm). The white light cardboard stock is shaded slightly darker for about one inch around the photo. Overall size is 12 inches by 15 inches (30.5 by 38 cm).

Unsigned hand-tinted photograph of a stream/pond scene. Image size is 5 7/8 by 3 3/4 inches, mat size is 9 5/8 by 7 5/8 inches. Framed size is 10 1/2 by 8 1/2 inches. Condition is good with a water stain on left side of mat near frame, small white spot on mat in upper right of image. Pre-1940, original frame and backing, very minor damage to lower right frame corner. Horizontal coloration difference is due to lighting when taking photo of framed work, not a flaw.

Condition: Good with small surface imperfections and a little discoloration along the left edge.

An albumen photograph of the Swedish flagged Olga on the Nile river. The riverboats were known as dahabiya and typically travelled from Cairo upriver to either Luxor or Aswan on a forty or fifty day journey. Travel on one of these dahabiya was usually luxurious, for the times. The flag on the stern mast is that of Sweden, the one on the foremast is that of Egypt, then part of the Ottoman Empire. This is a James William Shipler early historical photograph of the laying of the capstone of the Salt Lake City Mormon Temple, April 1892. Albumen photograph of two Bedouin musicians seated in front of a backdrop with their string instruments. Numbered 613 and titled “Joueurs de violon Bedouins” in white in the negative and signed, “Bonfils.” The image is 8 ¾ x 11 inches (22.5 x 28 cm) mounted on card 11 x 13 ½ inches (28 x 34 ½ cm).

Condition; photo in good condition, though the contrast could be a little stronger. Mount discolored, some foxing and soiled along some edges.

The image is almost certainly a tinted salt print mounted between two pieces of glass and matted to appear similar to a daguerreotype. Most of the original paper seal is still on the glass, but where it is missing the edge of a piece of paper is visible between the pieces of glass. It is translucent when held to a strong light. Overall 6 ¾ inches by 8 ½ inches.
