An oversize albumen photograph of the exterior of the Hagia Sophia, Istanbul by the photographer Pascal Sebah. The view is taken from outside a stone wall pierced with grilled windows. The monumental structure rises behind the wall. Pascal Sebah (1823-1886) was born in Constantinople. His photographic studio there opened in 1857. In the lower left in the negative, “68. Mosquee St. Sophia” and lower right “P. Sebah.” The image is 10 ¼ x 13 1/8 inches (26 x 33 cm)...
A late 19th century souvenir: miniature bone binoculars depicting Catskill Mountain House, another hotel building, waterfalls and more (can be seen, but not photographed). These truly minimal magnifying lenses were invented in the 18th century by Lord Stanhope. Measures: "1/2 x 1/3 / 12 x 9 mm. Condition: some general wear consisting with time, but both lenses are working.
Offered is a lovely, double, gutta-percha photograph case holding two mid 19th century, Civil War Era tin types of two different women.
The double gutta-percha case measures 2.5 inches wide x 3 inches long x .75 inches deep when closed, and 5 inches wide when opened. The case appears to be in excellent condition!
The two cased tin types are each further framed within different press-molded, thin, ornate, brass frame and behind a little pane of glass...
Early vintage albumen print of the two large bronze Kannons near the Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa, Tokyo, with children. Numbered in Japanese "277". Mounted on coeval cardboard. Condition: fine, minimally faded, left border of photo with a small loss. Dimension: photo: 21.4 cm x 27.4 cm, cardboard: 34.8 cm x 43.9 cm.

The writing on the slip refers to the borrowing of the book "Histoire de la Reine Zarah et les Zarasiens", 1712. This little piece of history gives some indication of the reading habits of the famous author...
Albumen photograph mounted on a card and titled in ink in script under it, “Bheel women grinding Bajri.” The Bhil are a large group of people from west India including Gujarat where pearl millet is called bijri. The photograph shows a group of men and women including a woman seated by a grinding stone posing for the photograph. The image is 7 5/8 x 9 3/8 inches (19.3 x 24 cm) and the card 11 x 14 inches (28 x 35,5 cm).
Condition: the image is in very good condition...

A miniature size hand written in Latin manuscript page, double sided, measuring 4 1/4" by 3", and 8 1/2" by 6 1/2" nicely framed, likely of religious content. Written neatly in brown ink with red capitals in places, much as would be seen in an antiphonal sheet. Condition of this little item, a survivor at many hundreds of years old, is excellent.
