Rather unusual 1930s Japanese porcelain covered inkstone with underglaze decoration. The side of the base is inscribed with a very long text, the top of the cover has a short poem and a figure of a man in robe lighting his pipe from ambers in the brazier. Possibly Arita ware, very nice modeling of the central raised area with rougher side surface for grinding ink, remnants if dried ink in the well...

A large and very attractive, lobed Kutani vase with a high neck in porcelain. The piece is decorated w. a mottled, preussian-blue glaze over which are purplish splashes covering the upper part. Signed in the bottom with a seal Kutani Yasokichi (1907–1997), (second generation Tokuda, and father of Living National Treasure Tokuda Yasokichi. Accompanied by fully signed kiri-box. Two rare small Japanese porcelain sleeping cats. The smaller cat measures 1 7/8" long, and I believe that it is the smallest cat that was included in a set of several cats of various sizes. The other cat is rare because it curls to the right (almost all cats curl to the left.) Both cats are from the Kutani kiln, and their condition is perfect. The smallest cat has the "made in Japan" mark. The asking price includes shipping within the USA.

A Japanese Kutani Moriage decorated figure of Hotei, one of the "Seven Gods of Good Luck" and also known as the "Happy God". He always carries the cloth bag that never empties, a walking stick to support the heavy bag, and the Chinese wish giving fan. He is also the patron saint of barkeepers. This Hotei is very large measuring about 17" tall x 10" wide, he weighs about 12 pounds, and he has the Kutani nine valleys mark on the base. We are dating this Hotei as Circa 1950...

Hotei is the god of contentment and happiness, and his bag holds an inexhaustible cache of treasures. The standing boy measures about 3" high x 1 3/4" wide. The riding boy measures about 3" x 1 3/4" high. The bag with pot measures about 3 1/2'wide x 2" tall. All three droppers date to the early 20th Century...
