Rare Japanese Zenibako or coin box used by merchants and shop keepers the coins would be dropped through the hole on the top the front has hand forged iron loops and pulls for locks, no locks included. Wonderful old lacquer finish showing countless years of use. Great as a hole coin box for all the change. Collected in Kyushu Japan in the 1990s. Size 13" by 8" by 9"

4 sheets of Chiyo-gami with autumn leaves designs which are woodblock prints. The paper is washi, a handmade paper made from mulberry fiber. Chiyo-gami was originated in Kyoto and developed in Edo later. It was used for paper dolls and paper crafts. Generally the larger one is the older. Karhu, Clifton (1927-2007) was born in Duluth, Minnesota of Finnish descent. He was one of the most renown American woodblock artists to work in Japan.
